Do anyone in here is a math wiz? Does anyone know how to calculate the odds of a game that selects X amount of numbers but where you have to match X - 1 to win, Example, a pick6 1-45 lottery that draws 6 numbers but you have to match 5 to win? Here in Ga we have a game called: win for life where players choose 6 numbers to win and the lotto selects 6 numbers from 1 to 42 and a mega ball from 1 to 42 (making it 7 numbers in total) but you must match 6 numbers to win? Can anybody teach me the

online lottery poll
i will not miss online lotteries anyways. Have you seen what they look like?i've seen a couple of them year ago. And most of them are pick6 1 to 45, 49 or 52. Who is going to get that right. And the latest thing now is to make games be accompanied with bonus balls which makes the game's odds go higher. Let me give you an example, a pick6 game with no bonus ball from 1 to 59 has the odds of 45,057,474 while a pick6 game that selects 5 numbers from 1 to 46 and a bonus ball from 1 to 33 (thus pick6

reThinking Lottery Systems??
Most games of chance assume certain events will occur, but the odds are based on how often the players are likely to predict when those events will occurs. While it may be true that 1 has followed 6 and 2 has followed 4 in the past, nine other numbers also followed them most of the times and in a pick3 game you have beat the 1:10 odds three times to win or get lucky and get a box hit. Beating the odds once or twice doesn't count.

Powerball lottery being considered in Wyoming
Well at least adding Wyoming won't change the odds or the likelihood of a winner.

Do Playing Quick Picks Ever Work??
Buying quick picks or picking your own numbers doesn't change your odds of winning. People read the odds of winning and think they don't apply to them and that is foolish. I prefer to pick my own numbers because I foolishly think I can improve my odds of winning and it's entertaining for me. Winning with a QP wouldn't feel as good as winning with my own numbers, but I would appreciate it just as much.

Ohio LOP-Wed 4/26 payout: 106k
There are 53,130 combinations of 5's on a 5X5 grid if the numbers don't have to be in any order. There are 75,287,520 possible combinations of 5's in a pool of 100 numbers (00-99). If each player can cover 53,130 combinations for $1, the odds of winning would be 75,287,520/53,130 or 1:1,417. The pick3 have odds of 1:1,000 of winning $500, what kind of jackpot could be paid with 1:1,417 odds of winning it for $1? Maybe $700.

is powerball really worth it?
Yep, someone has to win the jackpot regardless of how high the odds are.

Living off of the lottery...
I don't think so. Those small pick 3/pick 4 drawings only give back half of the odds. For example the odds of winning the top prize is 1 in 1000 but the payout is only $500. Seems like you would have to be right more than double the odds (i.e. 2 out of every 1000 tickets). The math on the larger drawings is bit more simple and I don't play the smaller lottos, so I could be wrong on this one, but I don't think you could ever come out ahead on the pick 3 or 4 drawings. I play the Lotto 5 and
