What if someone asks you if you won??
Quote: Originally posted by Fwup on May 26, 2004Why would you not tell anyone? Especially your family. I'm sure I wouldn't walk around with a sign around my neck that says I'm a lottery millionaire , But I certainly wouldn't try to hide it.There's two parts to the question, whether you tell before you've cashed in the winning ticket, and who you tell afterwards.Don't know what you're family is like, but for some it could be a real security nightmare. You only tell the wife who only tells her b

UK Lottery funds digital movie projection
Definitelly impressive. I heard about these digital projectors using satellites long time ago. To be able to produce a crisp image on a theater screen, you would need a HUGE bandwidth from the satellite. I also wonder if this means an increase in movie piracy. Sure they would have some security measure prohibiting copying, but people always find a way. And with digital copies, I can only imagine very high quality bootleg copies of movies. But I would like to go check out one of these digital

Probability of Repeats, Subsequent Draws
Win DHow ya doing. Good to hear from you.I don't know whether you've noticed but I'm currently working on a simple little free Pick3/Pick4 program to sort and analyze a Draw History. The idea is I get some experience in uploading, providing downloading and putting some security into the program before I do anything more ambitious. I asked for a bit of feedback from a couple of members - but nothing yet.At the moment I'm looking at including the following:History List: 3 Columns or 4Choose Histor

Are Lotteries Rigged
Just a point about magnetically charged balls. In my example, I wasn't saying that only a few balls in a set could be magnetically charged. In order for this to work with the security, auditing firms, etc., in place....every ball in the sets would have to be capable of receiving a magnetic charge, but during a drawing only the desired numbers are charged. Also I would like to point out that what four4me quoted from my post is only a small portion. My post was intended to be read in its entir

Cash or annuity ?
Do you really trust the budget crunchers at the state level to leave your winnings alone? All it takes is a few of these idiots to get together and change the rules or laws to whatever they need at the time. In the meantime you could take the cash and invest in some t-bills or bonds(3-4% return)or anything conservative and backed by the good faith of the US Govt., because if they change those rules the global economy crashes. Not much return on investment but the security of knowing where your m

lottery player association?
Goose:There are no Lottery Player Associations operating in America, but there probably should be. This is something I've been kicking around for a few months now, but I have no idea what the legalities might be for such a project. I would think you'd run into severe opposition from whatever state you were trying to organize; the lottery business is a very powerful lobby. It could be argued that, since the lottery games are designated as a voluntary or sin tax, states need these players' asso

lottery machine and computer
Hmm... My fault; I thought I'd mentioned this. Indiana uses just such a computer to draw the numbers for all their online games. Most people here believe there's really no difference between numbers drawn with ping-pong balls and those drawn using an RNG. I think that's because most people here live in states that still use ping-pong balls to draw their numbers, and also because they believe people who live in states that use RNG's are paranoid or are ineffectual at selecting their numbers. I ext

Winners wish they'd lain low
Quote: Originally posted by BabyJC on January 09, 2004 When you win the lottery, you want to celebrate, not get hounded, stressed out and worry about safety issues.Exactly... A trust is the way to go, along with extensive safety considerations, like perhaps NOT telling young children, just play it up as you got a cool new executive job... With alot of paid time off ;-)Moving is probably also a good idea. Telling family and friends you are moving for a new job (you could say they are paying for
