Powerball lottery jackpot increases to $92 million
You know, even with seemingly impossible odds, people really DO sometimes beat the odds, no matter how long they are.If you take some time searching the News forum for different combinations of words you can come up with stories posted here at LP about people who beat the odds, winning multiple games. Here's one: https://www.lotterypost.com/news/98416.htmI remember another story about a California couple who won two California jackpots on the same day. I just haven't spent the time to track it d

Which scratchers do you play?
I play whatever game has the best odds. I've noticed that the best odds for scratchers in North America is in Ontario. They have a ton of games (even $2 games) with odds below 1 in 3. The worst I've found is in New Jersey, which has been known to create games that exceed 1 in 6.

How big do you think MM will get?
On May 5, 2000, when the Big Game Jackpot was $220 million, 122.5M tickets were sold, which is many more than the 1 in 76M odds at the time. The key to this, of course is that no one is prevented from purchasing a combination that someone else has already bought. The more tickets that are sold, the more probable double coverage becomes. Mathetmatically this can be analyzed by what is known as a poisson distribution, which is an alegebraic expression giving (random) probabilities for the depth

Mega Millions lottery jackpot increases to $150 million
The odds have always been bad. Even one in 80 million is terrible odds when you think about it.

This Game Might Just Be Perfect

longest roll
Thats it in a nutshell. All it takes is faith, a dollar, and tons of luck. When the value gets to the 3-digit size, those who worry about the odds line up in front of, or in back of, those that don't watch the odds. The size over rules odds every time.

Smash the MM odds...it is easy!
Ichoro, you are missing something subtle here! With the odds being 175,711,536 to 46 you have 175,711,490 losing combinations and only 46 winning combinations when the odds are 3,819,816 to 1 you have 3,819,815 losing combinations and 1 winning combination. If you buy all 46 mega balls with the same 5 of 56 you really are improving your odds and making the game a 5/56 game!!!
