Ark. Lottery Commission denies tampering claim
The Arkansas Lottery Commission is denying allegations that it deliberately sold unsecure tickets that had a design defect that could easily lead to potential tampering.
Assistant Attorney General Mark Ohrenberger submitted the statements Friday in legal papers in response to a lawsuit filed by a Little Rock man who claims he bought two $20 Arkansas Millionaires Club tickets that had been damaged.
State officials also disputed claims that the agency deliberately allowed flawed tickets to r

Paranoid...or Prepared?
I am also a single female....mid-20s though.
1.) I would tell my family but not for at least 6 months to a year. During that time I would still live as I always had while secretly making the transition (setting up trusts; buying or building a new home; etc.). I want to get used to the idea of being a millionaire and really think through who I'll be sharing my winnings with and how much. I've always lived by the motto that if you want to keep something a secret you tell NO ONE. So I know if I

Kentucky store clerk wins $200,000 from duplicate lottery ticket
Someone out there has the other ticket worth $200,000
David Lee Franey owns four Franey's Food Mart locations in Owensboro. From time to time, one of his clerks will misprint a Kentucky Lottery ticket. Instead of going through the hassle of filing paperwork for a $1 ticket, I just always tell my clerks to tape them on the side of the terminal and I'll eat the cost myself, Franey said.
Little did he know yesterday that a $200,000 winning Powerball ticket had been taped to the side of the te

Prize money awarded to rightful lottery ticket holder
glad to see my state lottery can do their job right in 1 regard at least.
clerks trying to scam people out their wins, is very real threat.
but bigger threat, is idiots who can't check their own tickets or do any thing for them self's, and have blind trust in others they don't know.
also the lottery really just needs to make sure their self check machines in ever store where tickets are sold, with great signage, and with plz don't waste clerks time for losers, check them your self here,

All The Brains
CT: Hope you're not offended at being made a Partner in Crime!
First of all, if we're talking about a mechanical ball machine draw, cracking codes is not relevant, IMO. In the case of computerized draws, saying that, the lotteries just might have people employed to make sure the code can't be cracked... is implying that there is a conspiracy at the Lottery which is producing a series of draws that could conceivably be deciphered and predicted by unraveling, or cracking some aspect of th

The Great Lottery Revolt
Last I checked, the oil companies are taxed by our government, and I am not talking about the state sales tax that varies from state to state. Largely those companies that meet some government incentive end up not paying much, if any, taxes at all like GE (blame that on Obama folks...this whole big push on green energy...one has to wonder if Obama is invested in companies that are shielded from high taxes and such).
Another point I think many people seem to overlook is that any for profit co

Should illegal immigrants be able to claim lottery prizes?
On the one hand, there's a saying America has always had a problem with illegal immigration, ask any Native American! , and a tee- shirt with four armed braves that says, Providing Homeland Security since 1838 or something similar.
On the other hand there's the following. I'm not sure that Arizona's governor really said it or posted it, but even if not, it sure makes a lot of sense:
This is after the Phoenix Suns were protesting the new law in AZ:
Much has been said against AZ's move to

N.Y. man scratches way to lottery million
Michael Levy will never forget the New York lottery tickets he purchased on Friday, February 13.
A 46 year-old security guard, Levy, is no stranger to playing lottery scratch-off tickets, but he never had this kind of luck. He received a prize of $1 million at Tavern on the Green in Manhattan.
I buy them to help me stay awake in the early morning hours; and I usually win something so it's worth it, Levy said.
Levy was working his routine shift at a Bronx construction site when he got t

At what jackpot will you continue or quit working?
Pay the extra taxes and get nothing for it. You can't throw tax money at a problem and imagine it solved. That has never worked and will never work. Have you ever noticed that, in all these countries, with so called medical freebess, there are never wheel chairs on the streets? Never have handicap parking? Never have vans for transportation? It is because those who are handicaped are left with zero resources. Loose a leg to diabeties, which most people have diabeties. Have a parent loose a leg b
