Mega Millions to change lottery game's game and prize structure
Faster jackpot turnover does not mean smaller jackpots. When you add 25 million people to the mix the jackpot will simply climb faster and be won sooner hence more people becoming fabulously wealthy. Think about it... it will only take 7 draws to get the pot up to $100 Million instead of 10 draws to get it there. If you leave the odds alone you will get more winners, but roughly the same jackpot sizes. This is simple mathematics. Raising the odds to 175 million to 1 will generate obscene ja

Mega Millions to change lottery game's game and prize structure
I was hoping they would change long before California joined. Changes are needed to make big jackpots happen. If people don't like the changes they can stick to their computer drawn small jackpot games. I just want my increadibly bad shot at some big bucks. Even if the odds were dropped to 100 million to one people just don't realize how bad those odds are. Even pick 4 has bad odds if you play for a straight. These are lotteries we are talking about here. If your doctor gave you the same odds as

is powerball rigged
The odds simply do not favor 5-25 winners of the biggy. That's just the way the odds are rigged.

Quote: Originally posted by LOTTOMIKE on April 22, 2005 too bad powerball never gets this high......I played that Jockpot heavier than normal...But most of my money went to the Illinois lotto....$37 Mill at 10 mil to 1 odds....Now that the jackpot has been won, the jackpot/odds ratio is about 41 times better than MegaMillions....I respect the big numbers, but the payback/odds raio is much more important to me...MarkP

Mega Millions changing June 24 -official
Quote: Originally posted by danisiri on April 21, 2005 The odds are so way out there that for me to win would have to be God's will.ahhhhh. you are breathing the same air.for quite awhile now i have watched people debate the odds/matrices changes in here, and how some have stated that they will not play any more if they jack up the odds as they say it is already near impossible to win already .not so. whether the odds are 14 million:1 or jacked up to 175 million :1. if you think about it

Powerball numbers suspiciously repetitive
Pigskin, you're halfway there! You're right, the odds of a specific number repeating are 10:1.Last draw: 11-38-44-45-51The odds of the #11 repeating are slightly worse than 10:1. Same for each of the other four digits. Now you have to consider that there are five numbers drawn, each of which has a 10:1 chance of repeating a number from the previous draw. If any one of the five numbers drawn matches, we've met our goal. Five chances at roughly 10:1 odds is comparable to one chance at 2:1 odds.
