What's harder than hitting a trip??
Quote: Originally posted by WIN D on December 29, 2004Quote: Originally posted by CalifDude on December 29, 2004The odds of hitting a trip are exactly the same as hitting any other number...1000:1. But that is 0.1% not 1%. The odds of hitting a non specified trip or (generic trip) since their are 10 of them out of 1000 is .............1%. The odds of hitting one specific trip or say (222) is 1/10 of a per cent....or O.1%Yes, you are right. I stand corrected.

PB Drawing for Saturday 12-18-04
You're not reducing the odds...they remain constant. This challenge is focused on the five white numbers. The odds of randomly selecting 5 numbers correctly out of 53 are 1:2,869,685. That will never change.10 number choices is the arbitrary number we have agreed on. It could've been 6,13,18,35,48...or any other number between 5 and 53 inclusive. How tough is it to match all 5 numbers out of the 10 you've selected? Odds are 1:11,387.63888. How do you figure that out? The odds of matching

PB Drawing for Saturday 12-18-04
Quote: Originally posted by JAG331 on December 18, 2004FYI, the odds of having all 5 drawn numbers within your allotted 10 numbers are 1:11,388. Once you manage that, you've got a 1:252 chance of winning $100,000 on any given line. The regular odds of matching 5of5 in PB is 1:2,939,677. Multiplying 11,388 by 252 equals 2,869,776. Does this mean your odds of matching 5of5 is improved by playing from a pool of 10 numbers instead of 53?RJOh

I thought the biggest gripe about Powerball would be the jackpot odds.

Payout Structure
My question is...NY Pick 10 and CT Cash 5 both offer prizes of $300. The odds of winning $300 in the NY game are 1:7,384 while the odds in the CT game are 1:2,164. That's a big difference! I know the same story could be said about virtually every state lottery...different odds for the same prize. Why are they so different?

Trending
Been discussed on site a few times, has to do with historical information. I believe there are four types of trending, each with their proponents and detractors.Hot/hot trending - a number has appeared in the past more often than odds would indicate, and will continue to do so.Hot/cold trending - a number has appeared in the past more often than odds would indicate, and will not do so in the future.Cold/hot trending - a number has appeared fewer times in the past than odds would indicate, and i
