You're not reducing the odds...they remain constant. This challenge is focused on the five white numbers. The odds of randomly selecting 5 numbers correctly out of 53 are 1:2,869,685. That will never change.10 number choices is the arbitrary number we have agreed on. It could've been 6,13,18,35,48...or any other number between 5 and 53 inclusive. How tough is it to match all 5 numbers out of the 10 you've selected? Odds are 1:11,387.63888. How do you figure that out? The odds of matching

Payout Structure
My question is...NY Pick 10 and CT Cash 5 both offer prizes of $300. The odds of winning $300 in the NY game are 1:7,384 while the odds in the CT game are 1:2,164. That's a big difference! I know the same story could be said about virtually every state lottery...different odds for the same prize.Why are they so different?
