Brdman, I agree with you about the taxation problem in this country. Could be changed very easily and fair to all....We need a presidential hopeful that will change these things and there is none out there now.Brdman, hope you get another winner but in the right draw and straight. I play that way too. Probability formula Independent events
Sorry to intrude, but I found this thread interesting.Win D, would this be correct for a pick 3 type lottery? What the first table represents is the number of straight singles, doubles and tripples in the pick 3 game. The second table takes their probability and uses the formula you presented to calculate the odds of a double appearing in consecutive draws. I am wondering if I have done the math correctly?According to my calculations, a double has a 7.29% chance of showing up after a double has b

Boycott launched to protest increase in Lotto 6/49 prices
The ILC conducted extensive consumer research across the country and found players wanted bigger jackpots, more often One can only speculate at this point as to which questions were asked. My feeling is that they were probably biased so the answers would help to justify the planned cost increase as Bob points out. Problem is that most ppl are not aware of the resulting odds increase per dollar played, and this is based on my observations only rather than stats (which I don't have) so it's just

Atlantic Canadian couple wins $10 million
i honestly believe that lottery wins usually sneak up on people when they least expect it. ok, so you may say what else is new? but it goes way beyond mere surprise, shock or awe...it's almost as if Lady Luck tries to fool you into complacency and sometimes even total lotto capitulation. then you read about another occurrence. the timing, the coincidence, the details...you see trends over and over again in stories similar to this. at least i usually do. put statistics aside for a moment; and nev

The Luck of the Draw
ayenowitallMy understanding was when I posted the table in the Buying More Tickets - Reduced Odds thread it exposed the true value of your accusations ie baseless.https://www.lotterypost.com/threads.asp?ForumID=1 TopicID=86508 PagePosition= ThreadPage=11Further, as I understand it the basis of your accusation was that it was fraudulent to set a nominal Dollar value for the prizes to enable a meaningfull comparison between the Lotto games using the same picks and numbers. I note that Todd has fol

My thoughts on Massachusetts
The Mass Millions game began in 1987 as a 6/46. It was changed to a 6/49 four years later. The only modification to it since was shifting the draw nights.Whether there should have been a Mass Millions to begin with is debatable (rather than changing Megabucks, which was a 6/36 and is now a 6/42.) Massachusetts, if it wanted to keep Mass Millions around this long, should have included a cash option, or perhaps replace both Megabucks and Mass Millions with a single ja
