It could be happening already ... the guy that was arrested in Iowa. I just took the headline from a news article. Lottery security chief who won $14m is accused of hacking number machine to pick his ticket ... and who can be sure there hasn't been hacking from outside the system to win money. The Federal Government is a total failure against hackers from other countries ... so why not a state lottery? ...

Security cameras will help this investigation. Banking Has procedures in place for large withdrawal's. So it must not have been anywhere near the reported value of the supposed ticket. My Meds have made me see strange things but never two guys with a (??)winning ticket(??) asking me to help em. ...Now Leprechauns...thats another story!

You are correct. I think it's just an extra layer of security. The store clerks can do 3 things They can scan the ticket (in MA only store clerks can scan the scratch offs too see if it's a winner), They can read the ticket and see if your numbers match the winning numbers. They can look at the code and see if it's a winning code. I often get code ten for a $10 win.
