Lottery jackpots may get bigger
Yes, I did that the other week when I spent $50 on 25 powerball tickets.
I would have been better off flushing it down the toilet.
Would have saved myself the time and gas money driving to get the darn
tickets from the idiots behind the counter, who usually give you a dirty look to boot.
They could raise the price of powerball to $10 a ticket and people would still
play and fantasize about winning. Reality is, you will NEVER win anything more than
a few bucks or your money b

Powerball Changes
goldie11111,
A lot of people agree with you on more winners vs one individual, this is from the Powerball website FAQ page:
I HAVE A GAME IDEA; YOU SHOULD GIVE 200 PEOPLE $1 MILLION EACH.
We do get mail from persons offering ideas that promise to double or triple our sales in the game. We also get a lot of mail that starts - Everyone I talk to agrees that Powerball should pay more and smaller prizes, who needs $XXX million!!! These writers usually get extremely angry when we try to expl

Are pre-draws corrupting your lottery strategy ?
It is truly impressive mathematics you are showing here. And your proof is so well build with facts figures, it is almost unbelievable for any mortal.
So the odds in a pick3 game, playing 1 single number, out of 1000, is... tada... 692 draws..., oh no, wait, that will only give you a 50% chance, so the odds are really 1 to 1384 in game where there are 1000 possible outcomes. That is one strange odd lol.
And it doesn't end there, so it seems. This is only true when less drawhistory is prese

Post your scratch ticket results
Didn't mean to put anyone off here but I'm thinking about this - in PA the odds of finding $100 are about 1/300.
Could someone explain to me, skeptic maybe, how many tickets you have to play to find $500's at the rate you do?
Maybe our states are so different that finding $500 winners come as easy as finding $20 wins here. But one thing is true, the lottery is in
business to make money.
I see the odds for that particular game are 1/190 something? Roughly?
This just seems all very

Psst! Wanna Know A Secret? California Cores for F5 :)
Hey buddy :)
I had a feeling you'd be by visiting soon, lol. That's why I'm working on NY's Take Five right now. Stay tuned for your HOTTEST NUMBER. I'm going to take it a step further and also do the Hottest Pair and see if we can't reduce those odds even more. (And,yes, I look at all the draws since the game began :) You're right, the hottest number can change on a daily basis but since I'm a stickler for sticking with the same numbers I'm going to stick with what is hottest at the moment for

Florida: 8/1 - 8/31/2011
Just an FYI, It has been 32 draws since All ODDS has hit. There are 8 different possible patterns for Cash 3, so this sequence has been skipped over 4 times.
For the next few days peeps may want to consider All odds until that pattern hits.
Here are the Patterns:
EEE
OOO - LAST HIT 8/9/11 (MID) 959
EOE

Anyways, here are my picks for today:

Good luck Florida!

Why Do Mathematicians Consider The Lottery Random
It's really not worth your time.
I see where you're coming from, but the Earth's no longer considered flat because somebody PROVED it to be so. I saw that example coming from a mile away - it's just not comparable. Even if you beat the long odds of beating the lottery, that's not proof in itself - because statistics shows that somebody will be lucky enough to win, even if the medium term.
Boney writes: So we don't have a unifying theory, but the theories we DO have show that the

Why Do Mathematicians Consider The Lottery Random
I meant all sorts of wagering systems. Like just about every one, not literally every single system ever created. But there's never been a wagering system that allowed somebody to beat the house edge, in the long run, except finding bias roulette wheels and counting cards - all things which change probability, and the house edge.
I don't mean to say that wagering systems are useless - but they don't give you any sort of edge. Like my example, if you want to win 25 bucks - odds are that u

Mathematics and the Lottery
RL,
On another thread in this forum a new member outlined a MM method and three long time members responded positive. A fourth member, Jimmy said The results of your strategy will probably be proportional to what is summarized here and gave a link to a simulation he ran using a 20 year-old program. Jimmy gave some details hoping nobody would notice his simulation was 50,000 players each playing in 50,000 different drawings. While most system players are looking for methods to use in the 100 t

Post your scratch ticket results
I thought of this thread when I read this article in my newspaper today...so I thought I would post it for you all...this person is right in my area I don't know them or know if they are even on lottery post but here is his comment on the Lottery..
The Pennsylvania Lottery is taking advantage of the people of Pennsylvania. As a supporter when the lottery first came out in 1972, I thought it would help the people and I have played the lottery all these years..
I remember when the lottery
