code breaking and the LOtto...
If ....all six winning numbers are in your pool of 15-18 numbers then you have 55-65 chances to match 1of6 winning combinations of 5 in the winning combination if your abbreviated wheel contains all the possible combinations of 5's. That could be wrong, I was looking at the information below and guesstimating. There's a LP member that post in the Math Forum that has a website with all kinds of probability tables that might be helpful. possible combination of 6 in 15 numbers is 5005 M

Protecting your numbers
Quote: Originally posted by Visar on June 13, 2006 Quote: Originally posted by Prob988 on June 13, 2006 I use a similar strategy. For many years I kept a file on certain types of lottery drawings and wrote a computer program to process them, accounting, among other things, for their frequency in drawings that resulted in higher than average numbers of winners. No such program is infallable, since the majority of tickets sold are quick picks, but you can increase the liklihood that if your numb

13 State Employees to Share $224 Million Powerball Lottery Jackpot
OK Chuck...so you're not high enough up the MUSL foodchain to get a bonus. Bummer! You deserve one. Just a couple of points: I don't want to hold the lottery to a different standard. I want to hold them to the same standard any other business is held to. Most notably truth in advertising. The bottom line with me is this...It's clear Powerball doesn't want winners at the lower level. They want to advertise a great minimum prize but they also want to make sure nobody wins it. As

Big Florida Lotto prize whips up ticket frenzy
If conventional wisdom holds, Lake County will break out in Lotto fever today. The Florida Lotto jackpot has grown to $82 million and is expected to tempt residents into throwing down $1 or more for a shot at a fortune. It's a great way to waste your money, said Barbara Back, 66, of Eustis, clutching the five tickets she just bought Tuesday at a Publix off U.S. Highway 441. A stranger pushed a cart past Back and waved her tickets. Do you think we'll win? the woman asked. No, Ba

13 State Employees to Share $224 Million Powerball Lottery Jackpot
OK...it's not a debating tactic of mine and I certainly don't think your remarks are stupid. I had a little trouble with your use of the phrase ...whether Powerball has jumped the shark. I don't know what the phrase jumped the shark means. Would you please explain it to me so that we can clear up any misunderstanding I may have. So let's start over. Simply put my position is: There were only 3 more jackpots won in 2005 than in 2004. There were only 2 more jackpots won in 200

Texas woman wins lottery millions second time
Joan Ginther is a lucky woman indeed. Not only was she the proud recipient of a $5.4 million jackpot prize from Lotto Texas drawing in July 1993, but Thursday she met with the Texas Lottery Commission in Austin to claim another $2 million in prize money. Ginther, a former Bishop resident who visits the city frequently to care for her father, bought a Holiday Millionaire scratch-off ticket for $30 at the Diamond Shamrock at 525 S. 14th St. in Kingsville. She lives in Las Vegas, according

playing 6 digits in the Pick 3
Tonight's winning number from Oklahoma's Pick 3 is 7-8-1 I got a hit on that one but only after I added 10 additional numbers. Enterestingly, I found out that there are 252 possible combinations of picking the right 5 numbers of 0 thru 9, but the digits 1, 7 and 8 do appear in about 18 of the possible 252 which comes out to 1:14 odds I'm going to get a hit. Not too bad, really, considering the odds of the rest of the games.   So, playing 20 numbers is going to have to be the way to g

LottoBible, single state hit ratio
Hi, This is my first post. I've been reading here and testing pick strategies, playing around with a 2-point graph for studying historical trendlines in the Oklahoma Pick 3, referencing the LottoBible for picks, and generally daydreaming about winning. The results I've seen here for the amount of hits when playing all of the state's pick 3's are impressive on the surface, but maybe a bit impractical for a single state player such as myself. The odds of getting a hit from
