50/50 filters
There are 10 digits in each position in pick-3 games so we can only apply one 50/50 filter per position; we can't equally split 5 odd or 5 even digits by applying a high/low filter or any other 50/50 filter. Using one 50/50 filter per position, there are 6 possible outcomes so the odds against are 5 to 1. Since most state lottery pick-3 games only pay $500 to $1, we can only get a 3 to 1 return playing the 125 combinations; it's not a good bet. If you get $900 to $1 playing online, the odds will

Pot Size Prediction?
This is one of those unique threads where everybody's post has some merit.
My opinion is there's no way the guy wasn't entitled to his full share -
For those other people in the pool it came down to crying over spilt milk. Every drawing is a new start, there's no retro in lotto pools. Just sounds like a bunch of opportunist degenerates trying to recover their previous losses.
As for the lotto odds and jackpot amounts, in poker this is called pot odds , separate from the odds of mak

Realities of winning the lottery
I wrote this message for another message forum. I added the $370 million jackpot just to make it current. I think everyone here at lotterypost already knows that The odds of winning the record $370+ million Mega Millions jackpot is greater than 170 million to one and The odds of winning the record $370+ million Mega Millions jackpot is greater than 170 million to one , have the same level of truth.
The only reason the Mathematicians want to point out the seemingly impossible odds is becua

Probabilty of Someone Winning a PB & MM Jackpot in the same Week!
Yes truecritic that's it! Each extra ticket reduces the odds by a known percentage. The formula for percent decrease is [(new - old)/old]. Using your example:
The second ticket reduces the remaining odds by 1/2. (5,000 - 10,000)/10,000 = -1/2
The third ticket reduces the remaining odds by 1/3. (3,333-5,000)/5,000 = -1/3
The fourth ticket reduces the remaining odds by 1/4. (2,500-3,333)/3,333 = -1/4
See a pattern? :0)
Of course you're going to have better odds on four dist

Probabilty of Someone Winning a PB & MM Jackpot in the same Week!
I'll get to some of your other stuff later, but I think you might have given yourself a really good clue here.
Saying 2 tickets changes the odds of a 1 in 140 million odd game to 1 in 70 million is assuming that each ticket is only gambling on 1/2 of the combinations.
Let's look at what you just said and apply it to pick 4. There are 10,000 possible outcomes, so the game odds are 1 in 10,000. Half of the 10,000 possible outcomes are odd and half are even. If you buy one ticket with an od

AMAZING: Minnesota man wins back-to-back lottery jackpots
Strange that you posted this while I was typing. This is what I was writing which sort of agrees with your concept:
Okay, I have another way of looking at the odds here. I know this might sound stupid, but every time I read these posts, I am thinking of each lottery draw as an entirely different game.
So, let's say Sue Jones buys a ticket to a game where the odds are 1:170,000 and she wins.
Then Joe Brown buys a ticket to a game where the odds are 1:170,000 and he wins.
Does

Online Lottery Soon to be Illegal/new law
guys, first of all my question is they can prohibit online lottery from taking place in the U.S but they can not prohibit it in other countries can they?
Secondly, i will not miss online lotteries anyways. Have you seen what they look like?i've seen a couple of them year ago. And most of them are pick6 1 to 45, 49 or 52. Who is going to get that right. And the latest thing now is to make games be accompanied with bonus balls which makes the game's odds go higher. Let me give you an example, a p

The odds of both neither, just one.
The odds of both PB and MM rolling are roughly 61%.
The odds of PB being won while MM rolls are roughly 16%
The odds of MM being won while PB rolls are roughly 18%
The odds of both being won are roughly 5%
Personally I would like it if one of them was won. I live in a border area and like the jackpots to be a little out of phase.
I would, of course, especially like to be a winner myself.

odds are reduced

Buying one Pick 3 ticket gives you odds of 1 in 1000 or 1/1000, buying two Pick 3 tickets equals odds of 2 in 1000 or 1 in 500 as a reduced fraction...and yes, 500 combos arent simply going to disappear. But, 100 Pick 3 tickets equals odds of 100 in 1000 or 100/1000 ....or 1/10 as a reduced fraction. Either way you look at it, 100 in 1000 or 1 in 10 is still exactly 10% and is also the average amount of all games that you would

Middle Georgians have mixed feelings about California joining lottery
The chances of winning the Mega Millions jackpot at the beginning of this week were low, but now the chances are even lower.California became the 12th state to join the Mega Millions lottery Wednesday, bringing with it a population of 36 million to tonight's Mega Millions drawing. But even as California has joined the pool, that hasn't stopped Sharon Norton from playing. She said she keeps playing, hoping to hit it big and retire early. I think it's fine, said Norton, 39, an X-ray technician. T
