Online lottery plans criticized by some West Michigan lawmakers
Lounging on the couch at home playing Keno and buying lottery tickets on your iPhone or computer doesn't sit well with some West Michigan lawmakers.
I know seniors right now whose Social Security doesn't last a month because they're buying lottery tickets at the local store. If they can do it from home, their checks will be gone in less than two weeks, said State Sen. Rick Jones, R-Grand Ledge.
A new game system called iLottery would begin offering online sales of single tickets and insta

Would you remain Anonymous or have a Press Conference after winning the Jackpot?
OK. According to that info you pasted, only two types of entities outside of a natural persons can claim. How would you set up the LLC non-profit to be private? The State would know who the grantor is in the other case because it is required that the Revocable Trust is tied to a person and his/her social security.
If the lottery/state is sued by media to release the name (assuming, they don't give it out easily) under California Public Records, what's going to support the decision of a lotter

Jamaica making new efforts to curb lottery scams
Jamaican officials said Thursday that they are hopeful new legislation will finally result in a stream of convictions and lengthy sentences for fraudsters behind a multimillion-dollar lottery scam that has swindled mostly elderly Americans out of their retirement savings for years.
National Security Minister Peter Bunting told reporters that the law reform act will result in a vastly accelerated number of successful prosecutions of swindlers who have made the island a center for cross-border

Is everyone playing the lottery in hopes of being able to retire, what are your reasons for playing?
Right on CinCin. Financial security.
Whenever I have a few thousand in the bank, I feel much more secure. If I could be out of debt, even if I still had to work, I wouldn't care how much furniture I sold. I wouldn't have to sell x amount to make ends meet.
I really wouldn't mind hitting millions so I wouldn't ever have to sell another stick of furniture again.
Ahhhhh. Dream, dream, dream.

Is everyone playing the lottery in hopes of being able to retire, what are your reasons for playing?
Wow! Congrats on the win! More money to play to win more money!
I play mostly for entertainment. But I won't fool anyone by saying that is the only reason. I still hold hope that I'll win a big one for financial security. How cool would life be knowing you have $ to pay the bills each month? I play for $1m and up for that. Then I play smaller pots to get more money to play to win more money. Unfortunately, I'm a bit behind there... lol.
As Ronnie says, big goals, small results.

Letter in Dear Abby - Re: If I Win The Lottery
I wonder how many are also getting married simply so they have someone else in which to help pay bills. Basically, to have a glorified roommate. I think there was a lottery story before where the couple divorced after winning because it's something they had been wanting to do, but now have the financial security to do so.
Also, this thread reminded me of a winner that tried to hide her win from her husband and divorced him. He found out, via mail that got sent to him by mistake, and sued

More Whacky Ways of Picking Numbers
I use addresses most of the time. Social security numbers, also area codes (718, 347, 917, 646, etc.)
1326 Madison Avenue, 1148 5th Avenue, 1641 3rd Avenue, etc. (Upper East Side, Manhattan)
Works most of the time, lol.

Welfare lottery ban
When you go to any mom and pop store, do you wonder if the clerk has health insurance, puts money into social security, medicare or even pay taxes. You would think that they do, that the owner has his employees on his books. But the truth is, a lot of them are paid under the table. The clerks are just happy to have a job and the owner, just as happy, with his profit margin.
Now multiply that by a factor that will swell their number into the millions. So many people not contributing and then d

Welfare lottery ban
One of the smoke shops I used to buy a ticket from a couple times a week started asking me if I had money to pay for it before they'd print it out. I quit going there just for that -- it's been 6 - 8 months since I set foot in there even though I walk by several times a week. If they asked if I filed bankruptcy or received welfare? I'd never even think about going back. And if it was state law every retailer had to ask? I'd buy from the vending machines, maybe. It might make me so mad I'd give u
