Piqua lottery winners unveiled to cheers, tears of joy
MegaMillion winners, regardless of where they live, probably don't think of their wins as their state winning. They are thinking they've played the game long enough and spent enough that it's their time to win or be lucky.
That's what I like about these types of games over scratch-off or raffle type of games. There's no plans to spread the wealth around so anyone can win if they have the right combination regardless of where the last winner lived.

What to do with $500,000?
The Florida Raffle is not a jackpot game where you have a choice of an annuity or lump sum and never has been AFAIK. It is also not parimutuel so, if you do win one of the nine $1M prizes, you will win $1M, no more, no less. I see nothing that mentions the grand prize has a lump sum or annuity option. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Even if you have no deductions whatsoever in 2009, except for the standard deduction, you would end up paying approximately $319K in Federal Income tax. Y

What to do with $500,000?
I just bought a FLorida Raffle ticket and the prize is $1,000,000. With all the taxes and stuff, I assume the prize would be $500,000 unless I do the annuity where I get the full amount in twenty-years.
What do I do with the $500,000 so I can live off of the interest? PLease don't say CD's or Stock market.

Best Odds to win a Million dollar Lottery Raffel !
Did you buy a raffle ticket this year? They're not selling as quickly as before. I have seen some of the wealthy snowbirds plunk down $200 on 10 tickets without blinking. However, it's their right to play (and win) like everyone else.
Speaking of Gas for Life - if someone didn't get a cash prize, the value of their prize has gone down by about 50%.

Michigan Lottery starts two big new games
There was an article in a Detroit paper yesterday. The Mich Commish was complaining about what the Economy was doing to lottery sales and said that the bright spot was Keno. Getting back to the point, he also mentioned the new $10 scratcher.
As far as the raffle goes the disappointing thing about this one is they decided to lower the number of big prizes. There used to be 25 $100,000 prizes and now there are only 20. With few enough big prizes out there already, now there are even fewer.
