First time posting, I couldn't resist a good math puzzle concerning our favorite topic. By brute force I came up with three sets of five numbers meeting the criteria, {2 3 6 9 10}, {4 6 12 18 20}, and {6 9 18 27 30}. The numbers 6, 9 and 18 are common are shared by at least two of the sets, but the last one has all three. So that is the one the bum should play, since he would get a 2/5 prize for sure if either of the other two came up, or the jackpot if that is the one. Hopefully he wouldn't

No. All three digits that you play would have to fall for you to win, but you win no matter what order they fall in. Getting only two of three digits doesn't pay at all, ever. Sorry... I hope that clears it up. Sorry it doesn't work the way you want. Others have had the same question. It's actually an idea the lottery should consider, making a bet where any two of three would pay. Reading comprehension 101. Did I say that person kept pre-drawing every day until they hit 5 numbers? 1 or 2 pre-draws every day could yield a 3, 4 or 5 number hit after a certain number of days. The odds in hitting 3 numbers are 1:15, that would pay for the tickets. 4 or 5 hits would be a huge payday. Not so fantastic is it? Don't you think 41 5/6 tickets sold in one day is unusual? And you want to talk about nutty idea's? How about some computer security guy feeding a program into the RNG

Odds are the prize could be claimed as late as 4/22. As a general rule deadlines are extended when what would normally be the last day is on a day that the relevant office is closed. Since the lottery's offices will be closed on Sunday, and probably on Saturday requiring the prize to be claimed by Friday the 19th wouldn't allow the winner the 180 days allowed by the rules.
