Calculating odds for a subset of numbers
You are misreading the odds on that chart. They are saying the odds of the winning 5+1 combination being among your 200K combinations are 1:879 not 75% and your odds of picking the winning combination from them could be zero. You made an assumption that the charts shows is not true. If you physical have 200K combinations, check them again with previous drawings.
No, I did not misread the odds, not sure what I posted that made you think I did. 173M / 200K ~= 879. Makes sense as i said(if I wer

Odds on Misinformation
Everyone here knows what the odds are and that odds never change. That is (or should be) a given.
What most of us do here is go beyond the odds. We go beyond the math and statistics. We go where angels fear to tread. We do into the unknown and the unprovable.
When we do, we tend to twist the meaning of words because there are no words to describe where we are or where we might be going.
So when a poster says eliminate 5 numbers and your odds will move away from zero and toward one , we

101 last midday double gave us........... 979 on Tuesday. Playing the correct odds worked this time. Playing correct odds WINs most of the time.
FYI......Now we are expecting a 2 digit return from the previous draw on midday because it is skipping 23 days. Too bad for us it is right after that 979 double. The odds are not with us.
but...... since we are also expecting an ALL Odd number .....out 56 days now..... we have to break with the odds and play the 10 all odds.

Why Do Mathematicians Consider The Lottery Random
I was just going to find the odds of his friend winning that much.
I can't prove that his system doesn't work because he believes so dearly that it does. I can show the odds of it working for somebody, and they'll be very low, and any short term test is not proof.
He's already posted the basics of the system - one based in Gambler Fallacy - but I can't test the real odds without knowing more specifics, like on average how big the secondary pools of numbers are and how much he wag

Why Do Mathematicians Consider The Lottery Random
Thanks. At minimum, w/o having to think, buying a Quick Pig is an excellent choice in the jackpot games because you are at least in the game and cranking up the jackpot. No ticket no hope.
And you are also correct in writing that using any system or methodology doesn't lessen one's chance of winning. I think it improves your chances though, because the human mind can think abstractly and out of the box .
The odds/probabilty of hitting a jackpot prize are described using math. Just a guess,

The Color of Money (New Scratch-FL Lottery)
Actually the top prize odds are the best out of the $10 scratchers.
$200 Million Spectacular Top Prize odds: 1 in 1,500,000
$100 Lucky for Life Top Prize odds : 1 in 3,750,000
Casino Action Top Prize odds: 1 in 3,000,000
Cash Bonanza Top Prize odds: 1 in 2,000,000
If the new game Color of Money is indeed 1 in 854,700,000 for a Million Bux, then its not bad

Define A System That Works...
Yes.
A working system gives you a statistical advantage over house odds. In the duration of play if you average a win(s) more often than what is expected, you have a system. Take a Box bet for P3. Odds are 1:166 for a str8 set. If you win more than once in 166 plays (bets) you beat the odds.
Same goes for the big games, even if you jackpot only once and beat the odds.
A working system takes away from the house advantage and puts it in your pocket. They call it cheating when you beat the

Powerball or Megamillions The odds are against you..
If you want 1:2 odds of winning your dollar back then you flip a coin with your buddy.
If you want odds of 1:220 of winning $50 for $1 then you go for a box hit in pick3.
If you want odds of 1:1000 of winning $500 for $1 then you go for a straight hit in pick3.
You pick the odds and the prize amounts.
Telling people the odds of winning PB's $100,000,000 for $1 are even worst isn't telling them something they didn't already know.
