Million Dollar raffle tickets for TN start Jan 24, 2007
Any one know where the Tennessee Raffle is now? How many tickets have been sold? We might have to wait until the Second Ice Age to hold the drawing.

N.C. Lottery Plans $1 Million Raffle
99.89 percent of the tickets will be losers. Not a great game in my opinion.NC would be better served by getting the Pick 4 game going. Then add a day/night option for all the ball games. Shaheen continues to chase high publicity games while failing to really establish the lottery in NC.Pick 3,4,5 in a day/night format would be a far better choice than a one time raffle.

6 Disturbing Lottery "Trends"
I agree wholeheartedly with Todd and Greg on all points. The only thing the lotteries will listen to is revenue. Airing our misgivings about a game on a large forum like this is probably somewhat effective as well. Bottom line is don't play the game if you have any qualms about it. I'm surprised that lotteries are already trying to bastardize the raffle concept. Looked like a cash cow to me.

6 Disturbing Lottery "Trends"
By the way, Greg, this was an excellent post, you get my 5 stars for it. I agree with each of your points! I think a lot of attention should be paid to the raffle games, because they are obviously going to become more and more popular, as lotteries seek to expand their revenues. Thus, we should all jump all over the lotteries that don't do them right, and this is a great start. I would also add the following regarding raffles: All raffles should offer many small prizes ($100, $5

raffle poll
Most of these Raffles sell 500,000 $20 tickets, giving four players a chance to win a million dollars, 5 $100,000 winners and 500 $1000 winners. It took Ohio about 7 weeks to sell all the tickets for the Labor Day drawing so people had plenty of time to purchase a ticket. People don't seem to worry about the overall odds of winning but these raffles do offer more for your buck then most of the other lottery games. I bought one $20 raffle ticket and wasn't devastated when I won nothing. And I'

Calif. Lottery hops on raffle bandwagon
I wouldn't play it- not enough lower tier prizes. One of the reasons I played GA, SC and FL raffle was the large number of $1000 prizes.

Won $7 in PB 1/10 (3+0)
NY had a Republican governor for 12 years (until Spitzer took over January 1) and the Lotto payout stayed the same, although scratch games in 1999 saw the payout increase from 55% to 65%. The notorious 40% payout also applies to promotional games (eg King Kong Millions, Millennium Millions;) however, the payout for the upcoming Raffle to Riches will be 50%. Therefore is RtR not a promtional game (maybe an occasional game?), or did the NY legislature increase the payout on promtional games?

S.C. Lottery Millionaire Raffle results drawn
Well, I purchased 11 tickets!!! $110 of single-mom money! This was also my first time ever gambling. I feel so much like a fool it aint funny. At any rate, a friend of mine at work said she was told that every ticket was sold. How can this be when I purchased my last tickets 1.5 and 10 minutes from midnight respectfully on Sunday. All of my tickets had double zero in front of them. I've lost faith in Raffle tickets now.
