Guys
My advice is try to pick a game which gives you better results in terms of lexie digit selections. It may be that it will not be a game with better odds, but on the contrary one with more lexie digits so many more choices to make. What's in it for you when you have a game with 6 lexie positions to fill in while you cannot do it right?

Cash4life coming to Maryland - play or stay clear?
So Maryland is getting Cash4life next week, will be able to play the 1/28 game.
Is this game worth playing? Or not?
Odds seem a bit steep and jackpot winners are few (even second place).

Are we throwing away our money by trying to beat an RNG?
Good analysis
Anybody who realized that repeated numbers had been disallowed could bet on the numbers in the smaller set of possible results.
True but in that case the error wasn't sufficient to overcome the house odds (pool of possible 3 digit numbers reduced from 1000 to 720). And people who picked random numbers, not aware of the flaw, would, over the long run, lose the same amount of money.

Pick 3/4 Meter Made Math Moves
As expected, when I tested LakerBen's method the relatively few number of drawings (111) coupled with the odds his method of play entailed (1 in 167) resulted in a something that wouldn't be statistically valid.
He would have lost $65 playing the JADE numbers from Jan 1, 2010 to April 30, 2010
On 110 of the 111 days he would have lost $5, on one day (3/7/10) he would have won a net $485
Over the long run it is a certainty that his method would also result of a loss of 50% of what he bet

Pick 3/4 Meter Made Math Moves
I doubt it.
The Minnesota Lottery has guaranteed 50% house odds. The only thing they are interest in is increasing lottery sales. Nothing wrong with that or with buying lottery tickets or having fun trying to pick numbers based on the phase of the moon and price of butter or using past picks. Just don't get suckered into thinking that you can make money at it. If you think there are laws in the universe that govern how numbers come up, go to Vegas and bet on roulette. You'll still lose m

Anything can happen in this lottery with p3...I don't even ever worry about odds or evens anymore!
I see now how it hit...from day to day 549...mirror the 5, keep the 4 in and go down one with the 9 ...it sure should have been 580 from it the way I look at numbers!
It's always easy after the drawing to figure it out but not before!
I look at 4's as 8's sometimes 9's as a 0.

Multi-state Wild Card 2 game ending in February
We had a discussion about this in the Wild Card forum. This is the game I've played since 2008, and I'm very disappointed to see it go, as it was affordable. If they replace it with some 2-dollar per line game, I'm going to be very mad and writing letters. Oh, not that anyone will actually listen to what I have to say, but I will have to complain.
I know the trend is to put in games with greater odds and higher payout, but that's not why I play the lottery. I don't set goals for myself that i

Question Regarding The Odds of The Pennsylvania Millionaire Raffle
There's been a lot of excellent discussion here regarding odds/chances/probability of the PA Millionaire raffle, and I thank everyone that has contributed to the discussion.
That said, I would respectfully disagree that all Millionaire Raffles have sold out. During the sales cycle of the most recent one, ~474,000 tickets were sold. (Someone here at The LP posted that info, which they said they obtained from the PA Lottery's website.) I believe too, that the Halloween Millionaire raffle held o

Why can't lottery winners be smart and live a simple lifestyle?
There probably are plenty of lottery winners who are smart with their money, but part of being smart is keeping a low profile, so we don't hear about them.
Other argument:
The odds of winning a lottery go up the more tickets you buy Buying a lot of tickets is not smart Therefore, a disproportionately large number of dumb people win the lotteries

Powerplay For Powerball
You can't do it that way, since you don't know what the multiplier will be when you buy your ticket you have to sum the expected returns for each multiplier
If the 10x multiplier isn't available your expected return from spending the $1 is reduced by about 6 cents.
Just to show you how awful the house odds are with Powerball, even if 10x is chosen you will only expect to get back $2.51 of your $3 investment
When 2x is chosen your expected return is 64 cents for the $3, for 3x it is 87 c
