Michigan lawmaker wins $2M lottery jackpot
I know the win was legit. Not like the old days. Before the drawing process was reformed, I worked in the building where second chance drawings were held. Incredibly, employees who worked in the building were allowed to select envelopes from the mail tray that were sent in. There were no controls over how these letters were picked. One of the girls who was selecting these letters told everyone that her dad had sent a boatload of entries in, and that she sure would like to see him win. I happe

Cheating scratch-offs
The tickets are 1 winner out of 4... Exactly, but it looks like some people believe that means that every fourth ticket is a winner. It means that they don't have to have 75 winners on a roll of $1 tickets. (those rolls have 300 tickets on them).. They only have to prove that for every three losers a winner (of at least a ticket) was printed. On the back of the ticket it says overall odds so it's possible (though highly unlikely) that one roll of 300 tickets could have 300 winner

Heartbreak: Lottery scam led to NJ grandmother's suicide
I agree with all of you. How can anyone believe she won $2.5 million from another country and send money? But it happens all the time. It was probably the humiliation that killed her. We will also never know what her family said to her. I deleted my comment yesterday because I sounded so judgmental. I understand what it's like to lose so much (your home, money, health) and starting all over at age 72 can't be easy. She must have been overwhelmed with shame and embarrassment. Howev

Heartbreak: Lottery scam led to NJ grandmother's suicide
This is really a sad story, and confusing one. You're not talking about a gullible person, said her daughter JoAnn Trivisonno, of Virginia. You're taking about a fearless woman. If this could happen to her, it could happen to anyone. Mowle, a college graduate who raised three children as a single working parent, received the first letter promising a $2.5 million jackpot in October 2006. To collect, she had to pay $18,000 in fees, which Mowle sent. From there, the scam spiraled out of

FLASH: Tennessee Lottery audit won't investigate drawing errors
I agree with BobP and all the above. I guess they didn't think far enough ahead to come up with an excuse that actually made sense. This is BULL and they know it! This is the problem with virtually anything that's programmed - what's the point of the programmer developing something that's random?? Why aren't the multi-million dollar games computer generated?? DON'T EVEN TRY IT!! Legislators, keep up the fight. You must get to the bottom of this SCAM! And to all the other states that try

So you won the lottery.
A few points to make. First off, these bad cases can be looked at as warnings for players like us on the potential downfalls associated with winning big money. Second, there are some valuable ideas and important resources listed like the Sudden Money Institute. Helpful for me because I wouldn't want to stick all my winnings in the bank. I would need some help on allocating it so that I have a lot of it protected. Third, it helps to be aware of companies like Stone Street Capital and other

Syndicate
Right on! It's not even the fact that it's a lottery pool that's so bad. It's the fact that these scams are NOT real lottery pools. They are pyramid schemes. It is a scam that makes the people who started it very rich, while all the suckers spend all their time and money trying to achieve the wealth that will never arrive. Want to know more about pyramid schemes? Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_scheme The key phrase to look for in that writeup is, No matter

getting paid to play the global lotteries
I agree with the other comments posted here. These lotto systems you're referring to are all pyramid scams. They all work the same way, and they all claim they are not scams. They appear very glitzy and appear to have thousands or millions of members. Make no mistake: they are all scams. You will work like a dog for the scheme, and the people who own the sceme will get more and more wealthy, while you never see anything worthwhile -- certainly nothing anywhere near the level of effort

Couple nearly victims of lottery scam
According to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, consumers send $120 million a year to those running bogus lottery schemes. Mrs. Gadwah said she bought a ticket several years earlier, which made it easier for her to believe she'd won. Honestly, I don't think I'm scam-proof, but I have little sympathy for these people. That statement doesn't make any sense. Even if I got something in the mail telling me I won the Florida raffle, I'd wonder how that was possible. Yes, I did buy a ticket in
