Enough of the badgering. Why all the constant harping on people making economic decisions? If people don't want to throw away their money on bad bets, they're not going to. When PB gets to $600 million, a $5 bet will get them two chances to win the jackpot, one chance to win $1 million, and one chance to win $2 million (except in California). That is a better value, and the ticket sales reflect that.

If sales are a bit better and it gets there one drawing sooner there's about a 40% chance it could just barely get past $1 billion. Start a new $1 game, make the odds 1/305 million for the jackpot( smidge more than the old MM odds).....Test it out for a year. See how things go. Back in March of this year, the Powerball jackpot was $527 million while the Mega Millions jackpot was only $29 million. The Powerball jackpot was over 18 times larger than Mega Millions. Sales for Mega Millions were not zero. In fact, they were large enough for the jackpot to increase to $43 million in the next draw. The point is, regardless of the ticket price or jackpot size, players like buying tickets for both games.
