If you won the big jackpot...
One of the most successful persons I know explained financial security as: Cash is Power. Work on the OPM Theory, and Owe no-one anything aka(Completely debt free). With todays lousy financial returns in a very risky environment; NO DEBT is the best weapon against inflation or deflation/depression. No debt of any kind will give most everyone a 38% return of you total net worth within 1 year. (most people owe 38% of their disposable income to bills of all kinds)
Banks in amounts of $50,000-90,

If you have a Paypal account be careful!
Thanks for the reminder, marcie.
I have had Paypal for nearly as long as it's been around. There are always people trying to scam you through PP, as well as everything money related on the internet. Yes, always look at the email address it comes from. If it's something you receive in your email, saying your account has been compromised, and has a link to click on, don't click it, but hover over it, and it should tell you at the bottom of your browser (if yours is set up like this), what addre

Is world-wide lottery game harmful for your...soul?
I don't understand the part about being able to handle that amount of money. I don't know what the problem would be. Throw it in a few banks and investments and go on with your life. I think if you're a typically happy person you'll continue to be happy but if you're a normally miserable person (I've been married to a couple) no amount of money can change that.
Outside of the expected hounding by media and charities and security concerns, I would probably just go on with my life as usual.

Weeks from losing house, couple wins $7M lottery jackpot
A semi-retired security guard and a social worker from Desert Hot Springs claimed a $7 million lottery jackpot on Monday.
John Estrada, 65, randomly selected the SuperLotto Plus winning numbers 8, 19, 20, 21, 41 and Mega number 3 on Saturday at a Chevron mini-mart on Palm Avenue south of Desert Hot Springs after his shift as a part-time security guard.
That night, he and his wife, Patricia, 54, saw their numbers drawn for the jackpot.
We checked the numbers many, many, many times and t

I think I got ripped off
It's only happen a couple of times to me at locations and with tellers that I had used in the past and they actually paid the prize level above the one I thought I had so I think that sometimes they would ask to see if it was a big win because if it was more than what was in their till but less than $600 then they would be in trouble as soon as it was scanned and the four digit security code entered. When a retailer scans the ticket and enters the code, the ticket becomes inactivated, even if th

A Lottery Delema--Winfall or just fall?
Good point.
I have thought about how I would handle winning a large (millions) jackpot. How I would tell my brother, how I might help him. How I would protect myself and my family. How I would have to change how me and my family would live. Most people probably fantasize winning millions but really don't think very deeply about it. They just think about quitting jobs they hate and buying stuff.
I really just want some financial security. That's why I play even when the jackpots are not ver

Finding a lottery ticket
I noticed recently that the tickets I buy have the date and time of purchase printed on them. This is fairly new in Texas, and my guess is it could be a reaction to the clerk in Grand Prairie stealing the winning MM ticket a while back. So, if you find a ticket on the ground, they can trace it to the store and exactly what time it was purchased. Then just match it with the time and picture on the security camera. For someone like me who buys their tickets at the same store every day, and where t
