Hawaii residents now taxed on Vegas winnings even if they lose
Well I'm a registered democrat soon to be third party and a lifetime liberal, but I'm feeling the tax burdon myself! Part of me says enough is enough! But, another part of me understands that in order to bail out wall street to the tune of trillions and to keep spreading democracy throughout the world, also to the tune of trillions... both of which are crucial to the security of the United States Of America, somebody has to pay. So being patriotic and all I'm going to just grin and bear it. If

Heads Up - All you dreamers
Jake, Funny you should mention of dreams, intuitions, and situations. In my dream the night before I dreamed of my step father's mother. We were in the kitchen with one of her son (Camille) and camille put this cup of tea on the table for me. I have not seen this woman in many many years since her death. Now, last night I dreamed that I was walking and this man was walking next to me and my son (Jamie) born in 87 was walking next to me. All three (3) of us walked to this RED car but the

True love: lottery winner reveals secret only after engagement
Actually, it is not that rare at all! My Uncle, who is now 76 years old married my Aunt in March 1978 and she is now 61 years old, so they have been married 31 years now. My Aunt is the one who makes the money too! My Uncle retired at 59 and just get a small pension along with social security. My other Uncle who I'm not that close with, is 79 years old and his wife is 59 years old, that's a 20 year age difference and neither one make a lot of money. So, the moral of the story is, money isn

N.C. town abuzz over $88M Powerball lottery jackpot win
Yes, but keep in mind that the Powerball annuity is different than all others, because it increases each year. The MUSL people say that it's beneficial, because it makes the annuity as valuable in the final year as it is in the first. (Inflation makes most annuities much less valuable in the final years -- $200,000 per year will be worth a lot less 30 years from now.) The side-effect (perhaps the intended effect) is that the annuity can increase faster than it would with a static annuity, rel

Connecticut man sues friend for share of lottery prize
10. Move away. And not just out of town. We're talking out of state, possibly out of the country. You can't expect to keep a lid on your secret forever; information wants to be free. Maybe buy a modest house with a good alarm system in a gated community with a private security force. That ought to minimize the solicitors at your door. Also be sure to get an unlisted phone number. This advice isn't as extreme as it may seem. In a lot of cases, this would be good advice.

Recent checks of Iowa Lottery retailers find no fraud
Security checks at lottery ticket sale locations at about 200 locations statewide in recent months have revealed no improper payments of prizes to or by store personnel, Iowa's lottery chief told a panel of state legislators last week. Terry Rich, chief executive officer of the Iowa Lottery, played up the safety and profitability of the lottery before members of the Legislature's Oversight Committee in the wake of an expansive report by Iowa's Ombudsman of State. The April report found the lo

Scratch Offs Not Being Paid
We received a phone call from Billy Vaughn from the lottery Security Dept for the Ky Lottery. He had looked the transaction up on the computer and he found it! He said that they should have given the $6.00 for the ticket and not 6 more scratch offs. He said he will call them and inform them of their mistake. We found out also that for the past 6 months the Ky Lottery has changed their payout system to be more like TN and other lotteries around the country. Here is what he said: If you play a

How many hoops do you have to jump through...
As far as I know the process takes a few hours to process your ticket. You don't have to make an appointment to show up at lottery HQ to cash a ticket. I wouldn't anyways because that's just time for them to alert the media! I think most of the time it takes to process a claim such as a jackpot is from the security measures on the ticket. Once the ticket is validated as authentic you mostly fill out forms. I don't think it's so complicated that you absolutely require a Lawyer or CPA but the fina
