Do you give much thoughts to the " odds" when playing the lottery?
How big a JP prize is has absolutely nothing to do with the odds of whether you'll win or not. The OP is asking If you think about the odds, not the JP size. You can't simply ignore the odds because the prize amount is higher. I'm in no way swaying your optimism, just making sure you realize that odds don't change just because you're more aware of the benefits due to the natural high the lottery gives you when contemplating what to do with your money if you win. A dollar and a dream.

Scratch-off odds - going up?
I've been watching the North Carolina scratch-off page. It seems to me that the odds are getting worse and worse. It used to be around 1 in 3.68 was the odds for the cheap games. Now I'm seeing 1 in 4.88 for a $1 scratch-off!! I'm sure soon it will be over 5! Are these changes happening everywhere - or just North Carolina? It really makes me mad!!

Which one will have better odds of winning?
NY Sweet million has odds of winning top prize is 1:3.8 million. $5 scratch lotteries have odds of winning 1:3.8 million. Is it better to play 5 games of NY SM as opposed to one scratch lottery? I know scratch lottery generally have lot of smaller prizes. Assuming you are not interested in small prizes/

Fallacies, and two REAL ways of improving your chances
BobP wrote... snip Does this provide better odds of a win then any randomly selected set of 6 lines? Well yes when the randomly selected set of lines does not have all the winning numbers among them, the set that does have all the winning number must have better odds of winning then the set that can't win. Please keep in mind... Any system may make it easier to win (or at least seem easier), but the odds are a simply a calculation of the number set, including the number of plays that you'

Do some number combinations have better odds?
You are playing number combinations that have better odds for that one draw. Does it really matter that statisticaly you will have to pay back those odds? Because those two effects exactly cancel out, yes, it does matter that you have to pay back those odds. At least if your goal is to have better odds.

Do some number combinations have better odds?
I want to be boss too! If I give up my chances of winning on some draws to get BETTER ODDS on others, is it still BETTER ODDS? If I give up my chances of winning on some draws to get BETTER ODDS on others, is it still BETTER ODDS? hmm Boney is right. You cant beat the lottery all the time. I thank him for pointing out the errors in my ways. I guess I will have better chances at the slot machines.

Do some number combinations have better odds?
In a earlier post I showed your odds of matching 0 with 12 numbers in MM are 487/792 or roughly 2:3. With PB those odds are 500/792 or roughly 2:3 also. If your intent is to post 12 losing numbers for every PB and MM drawings, odds are you're going to be right only two of three posts. On the other hand your odds of having the 5 winning PB numbers are 1:6,321 and MM are 1:4,823

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Yup. All this talk about better odds is hogwash because he can't figure out what his odds are until AFTER the drawing. That's fairly useless for answering yes or no to this pie-in-the-sky question of do some number combinations have better odds? ; he can't answer yes because the next logical question is WHICH number combinations have better odds? , and no one can definitively answer that question. The best Ronnie can do is guess, and even though he seems to be fairly good at that, it does nothin

Winning Powerball ticket in Mo. turned in
So much for creating BETTER ODDS for yourself by picking your own numbers. Random is random, by its very definition you can't predict it. Of course, the whole idea of BETTER ODDS reveals a complete lack of understanding of the concepts of odds and probability. Past performance does not indicate future results, and being good at guessing numbers is not the same thing as having BETTER ODDS , it just means you're lucky.
