Quebec, Wanted: invisible sums
Thanks Ricky..... some sort of vapor lock ..... maybe a French thing. LOL If .....the general population in the future..... ever really starts to understand the power of your software they might actually be forced to change some of the State's play rules just to protect themselves. Really.. But, the older I get ..... the more confidence I have in their laziness and the State's lottery financial security. LOL

Lottery Taxes
Well this act is a very logical thing to do if you want to keep others and more media at bay. Drawing more attention to yourself is a pretty stupid thing to do, and even a more security risk to you and your family. The goal is to be as boring as possible, put everyone to sleep, get out of there, and go and start enjoying life. Not to attract even more herds of people after you. With great power comes great responsibility. But go ahead and knock yourself out if you want. The person that wrote

Lottery Taxes
Depends on the person I guess. The examples stated to be positive, make no promises, wear your Sunday best, act as though the cameras/microphones are on you from the time you walk in until you get back to the car, do not use profanity or slang, make derogatory or slanderous comments, project your voice clearly and loudly so everyone in the press hall hears you, be polite and helpful to the press, hold and display promotional checks correctly, etc. Most common sense, but still good inform

Winning "BIG" in Powerball or Megamillions
As I said in the other topic, it just depends on several factors. But I do think it's possible if you make at least something that resembles a plan. Heck, you could easily keep it from family too as long as they don't live with you or something like that and there's none that know you well. One thing I forgot to mention before is getting caught on the security camera at the place you bought the ticket from, though I think a lot of people would have a negative reaction to a store releasing someth

Kellogg's worker won't change much after winning $1M lottery jackpot
Very few people when they retire are lucky enough to have a retirement plan that pays over $34K a year AFTER taxes. Along with social security (and possibly a pension) this couple will probably be very comfortable. However, if I were working at a job with group health insurance, I would probably stay until I was eligible for Medicare. Just one bad illness can wipe you out. Maybe our new President will change that soon, but it will take time. We can only pray!

Yahoo files suit against 'lottery' spammers
Yahoo Inc. said Tuesday it filed a lawsuit against Yahoo Lottery spammers. The Sunnyvale-based company said the spammers send out e-mail messages trying to make people believe they've won a lottery or prize offered by Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO). The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in New York City under the Federal Trademark Act, the Federal CAN-SPAM Act and related state laws. Yahoo said it does not offer any such awards and has no affil

Teen wins $35 million Powerball lottery jackpot
Regardless of why the Pope chose to spend millions that came from people who are repeatily told to give for the poor. I don't recall see a box labled Save The Pope. The fact they they give away a lot, while still providing hunmgous worship houses, instead of something Christ would have walked through. You can build millions of churches instead of those huge monsters filled with gold and copper - all from donations! Thousands of years of taking from the poor and building monster houses and worshi

4 charged in killing of $250,000 lottery winner in Ohio
Animinity is not the answer. Having wealth is not a reason to craw under a rock and hide from the sun. If thats your goal, buy a candy bar and walk the streets. Having wealth and advertising it, not having a security system, common sense, and the maturity to live a normal life are flashing signs for disaster. Of course, living in an environment that attracts criminals is not a superior choice either. Yelling out that you have money, and live alone, is not a way to obtain longivity. The statem

Can't Feed the Pig when Uncle Sam & The Lottery Steals all the Food
Destined - this is the reason I tell myself to not quit my dayjob unless I hit $30m. Destined JWBlue - I don't begrudge my country for taking taxes - its all necessary, but you do have to draw the line somewhere. As I get older and become more active in my retirement planning, I am disgusted to find that they actually tax your social security income - money you have already paid into the government after they taxed it when you earned it. That is double taxation. jackpotismine - don't belei

Can't Feed the Pig when Uncle Sam & The Lottery Steals all the Food
Ok then please counter my post with example and fact. And if you really think my generation (20-30 year olds) are going to see social security, then you are kidding yourself. I tried my best to show the government gets 80% and the player will only get 20% of the total prize pool. Of course, it's not worth playing, but what I am saying it's the best running racket in America. No one plays to win long run anyways, however the fact is that the players get fleeced big time. I mean if everyon
