Not necessarily true. I think many people say this to justify their playing the lottery against such incredible odds. I have never, repeat, NEVER bought a lottery ticket because I think it's FUN...Among reasons are the embarrassment felt by playing, the stink eye received when asking the person behind the counter for a ticket to the eventual and basically certainty of losing. Well to be fair, the odds are clearly posted for the lottery. And to be honest, if you are feeling sadness, your daughter is right in suggesting you do not play. That's because a huge surge of extra people are playing, not to mention most regular lottery players are doubling and even tripling their regular bets because of the swelling jackpot. The odds of getting a second place prize are virtually about the same as when the jackpot is only at $40 million. Although most who toss in the extra dollar, will do so no matter what the size of the jackpot.

I just checked Gail Howard's Advantage Plus software. Dec 10th of last year is the last time Take5 saw all evens.... nothing in the way of all odds/evens since then. I thought we'd seen at least one all odd or one all even this year, but it hasnt happened yet in 2013. Not sure how many times per year all odd/even happens, but it's definitely worth playing some all odd or all even sets right now.
