Do some number combinations have better odds?
RJOh,
What I like to ask people when they tell me lotteries are a waste of their money is, Where in the world can you have your odds of winning a fortune reduced from Infinity to one all the way down to One-Hundred-Seventy-Five million to one, for $1? They usually don't have a good rebuttal.
By the way, who have you seen posting here that appears to not like lotteries?

Someone just won 4 million on a scratch ticket from a gas station so close to me
Hi CinCin,
Though there are some stores as you say that continue to have big winners it seems the likelihood of it happening is slim. There is a convenience store one town away from me that always posts tons of winning scratch tickets. Whenever I have played at that store I've never won anything. Also I remember last year there was a 1 million dollar scratch ticket won at a gas station a few towns away from me. Hoping that this gas station might be a lucky one I went in soon after the win and

End of game schedule / Top prizes not yet claimed
Jon D thatnks for details.....just curious where is this info coming from?
If you're saying that all of the top prizes are not in the initial printing, then the odds are not being properly represented on the sites. The states are simply advertising PLANNED top prized....not all of the top prizes would be in circulation because they wouldn't all be actually printed yet.
Under this scenario, the states would never need to do a 're-print'...they would just continue to order new batches. Am I

Kentucky Democrats propose taxing lottery tickets
From a gambling standpoint, it's amazing they would even consider this. I understand the Democrats' desire to tax anything and everything in existence, but can they just stop for one second and realize that by making a lottery ticket cost $1.06 instead of $1.00, that they will throw off the entire cost-to-prize equation? Those long odds for winning, and the amount of money you win compared to the amount you spend, just got a lot worse.
It's as if every time you throw down a $10 bet at blackj

Statisticians search for how to beat the lottery
Excerpt:
Darcy Mays believes, with a database of enough winning numbers, there is at least the possibility of seeing patterns develop. That by no means will guarantee a win, but might up the odds a little, especially in the smaller games like Pick 3 or Pick 4.
If you were dedicated, and there really was some pattern that you were finding, you could not get rich but you could probably do a good supplemental earning.

Statisticians search for how to beat the lottery
The odds would not be that astronomical if there was a so called pattern to winning the lottery.
A mathematician once wrote the balls machine do not know that the balls are numbered Once they are spun, its anyone's guess.
These guys are chasing smoke.

Have you at times temporarily abandoned MM & PB for the lower hanging fruit
Wow Coin- those odds are disturbing. .
I used to play heavy on MM and had little to show on my investment, so l took a hiatus on MM for 2 months and played Daily 4.. put down $10.00 and got a returns of just under $3, 000. Fluke, perhaps but a win nonetheless.
Not life changing by any stretch of the imagination.

lottery thoughts
While I am in the majority in the loss department, I still think I am only 1 set of numbers away from being equal to those that have won a Big Jackpot. Oh sure, I say my prayers, look at number combos, make a wish on a star, ask Santa, leave carrots for the Easter Bunny, purchase that ticket that some cashier accidently printed,go with hunches and gut feelings. Yet even though we haven't hit the big one,I still have a deep belief that my significant other and I are going to win....and soon. For me

Do some number combinations have better odds?
I have been running a LOTTO649POOL based totally on this question. My opinion ? YES !!! your right, it is not a random event,
Odds of winning Lotto 649 is 1 in 13,983,816 in each draw. Since June 12, 1982 to date, there have been 3,031 draws. I have charted certain combinations and found some combinations come out very frequently and some not at all. I am still able to refine a little. Long story short, this is where I am at now... 33.3% ( 1 in 3 draws ) or better, I can and DO get the last
