DC-5? Disaster.
Well, it appears the District of Columbia has already taken on a version of Pennsylvania's Quinto. It's apparently been on sale for a month. Now, doing that is already pretty dumb because, let's face it, Quinto is terrrrrrrrible. The odds of winning a prize are rediculous, as opposed having overall odds of 1 in 10 in Cash 5 or 1 in 6 for Treasure Hunt, Quinto has odds of 1 in 100 at best, with the pairs. But it's kind of pointless seeing you're only playing 2/5 of the total numbers, and you can

Best way to play the odds?
Anyway you look at it, making all of your bets in one state is the way to go. If you bet $10 to play 10 of 10,000 numbers in one state you'll have a 1 in 1000 chance of winning, and a 999 in 1000, or 99.90000% chance of losing. If you spread the 10 bets over 10 states your chance of winning in each state will be 1 in 10,000, and your chance of losing in each state will be 9999 in 10,000, or 99.99000% The chance of losing in all 10 states will be .9990 ^ 10, or 99.90005%. You're more likely to lo

I need someone to calculate the odds of this happening
Nobody ever does a story about somebody winning twice until it actually happens, so it is the same. It's just that the people who tell you the odds are 1 in 1,000,000 are wrong, or they're giving the odds for winning twice in a row when you haven't already won once. I generally figure the latter is the wrong answer, but I suppose it depends on the question they're trying to answer. If I were to win twice in a row and you ask about the odds of that happening the answer really depends on whether y

Don't be taken in by The Texas Blockbuster scratchoffs.
That is not acutally true. If you do look at the full odds of any scratch off, especially a $20 you will see that the odds winning the minimum prize is more then the overall odds. They are usually 1 in 5 or 1 in 6 to win $20. The 1 in 3 odds includes every prize, like $25, $30, $50 and so forth. He just hit a unlucky streak of tickets. It happens all the time. I once bought 8 $5 tickets and didn't win anything. Went back to the store and bought 3 more and 2 of the 3 were winners.

PA Super 7 Jackpot
Odds don't really mean squat to me. Someone always wins eventually. I already beat the odds for Big 4 three times (1 in 10,000) playing only $1 each time, and I know people who have played their whole life not even won boxed. I think the so-called odds are perfect for this game because they are nowhere near as bad as powerball. This keeps the jackpot higher and still winnable to only one player most likely.
Cash 5 is fine, but the jackpots are generally always low. When it gets to $2-3 millio

Neb. lottery numbers drawn twice in row
Fair question. It doesn't have to be three days in a row. It's easier to visualize solve it that way, though.
Here's my work out, for a 6 drawing set. Now, remember I was answering RJOh's question of the odds of a threepeat . He didn't specify a certain number.
Let's call our target number 000. That comes out on the first day.
On the second day, 000 has 1 in 1000 chance of falling again. Overall odds so far: 1/1000
On the third day, 000 has a 1 in 1000 chance of falling again. Overa

elmozoe, the only dates to really pay attention to are the dates that trips were drawn, and play the odds. I got caught up in the trips thing a few weeks back, but I have since come to my senses. Don't get me wrong, if you really feel a trip coming, play it, but I am playing odds now, not just guessing games.
Fact is, the chances of a trip being drawn is less than 1%, there have been 1099 draws, and 9 trips, no thanks.
I will spend my big money chasing numbers that have much better odds of

Neb. lottery numbers drawn twice in row
The odds of one particular drawing to the next matching is 1 in 1000. The odds of it matching one drawing to the next at some point sometime is almost certain! The odds of *the next two drawings* matching a given drawing i.e. the same Pick-3 3 times STR, is 1 in 1 million. In the slot machine analogy (sorta) maybe they were thinking the odds of 2 specific draws in a row matching a *certain* STR # chosen arbitrarily.
I'd love to have access to what kind of algorithm is used to run a computeriz

as you can see, the odds of sum of 15 are 1/14 draws or 7.2%---exactly what we are at in nc history
odds of sum of 22 1/48 draws or 2.1%,,,,,nc is lagging behind the odds at 1.5%,,,,it is way overdue
odds of sum of 7 are 1/28 or 3.6%,,,,,,nc is right in line at 3.7% so it too is wayyyy overdue.
Take this information and make some money off of it. If you are trying to decide on a certain set of #'s, go with the ones with these sums first.

Scratch-offs by the pack
A few stores do the squares thing and from what I understand lottery reps that service those stores are aware and do not discourage it. Do not think it is illegal because there is no profit made by the store or any extra profit made by the lottery itself. They are getting their $1000 for the 100 $10 tickets and one player is increasing his/her odds significantly. If I spend that $10 on one ticket my odds are only as good as everyone elses who buys one ticket. Since the book of tix is likely to g
