What is a lottery system? What distinguishes a lottery system from guesses, dreams and quick picks?
Yeah. That's what I don't like about those $2 games where you can pick the first line, but not the other 2 lines. I'd love to play one of those games if they allowed you to pick the other 2 lines. The Hoosier Lottery has a game called Mix Match which is a 5/50 game. This is the prize structure from the Hoosier Lottery website:
Prize Structure
Match Payout Odds
Single Line
5 of 5 $200,000* 1 : 2,118,760
4 of 5 $500 1 : 9,417
3 of 5 $10 1 : 214
Combined Lines

post if you have purchased a roll of scratch-off's
By prize tiers, do you mean more levels of prizes like 100,000 (top), 5,000, 1,000, 500, 100, 50, 30, 20, etc?
Tennessee is more confusing because their website only shows the very top 3, but I guess if you scratch a ticket it will show you (almost) all the prizes.
If this is the case then I would think the $20 tickets have the most prizes but again, its confusing because the TN Lottery doesnt exactly go out of its way to reveal all odds and prizes...

NY Scratch-off Discussion
I dont know about NY but in Florida the $5 games are the biggest rip off. Bad odds , low prizes and not many prize tiers. They put 2nd chance promotions on a lot of them so the cash prizes suffer as a result.
I know several players around my area that have made out well with $20 rolls. A few $10K wins too.
Buying tickets in the store on an opened roll you never know who bought the ticket before you start and how much it won.

What is a lottery system? What distinguishes a lottery system from guesses, dreams and quick picks?
I see what you're saying. However, when someone invests in a system that advertises that it will increase ones odds of winning the lottery, and at the end of the day they miss the jackpot and miss other 3/6, 4/6, and 5/6 wins, then how do you know if it's a good system or not?
Which goes back to the original question, what distinguishes a lottery system from guesses, dreams, and quickpicks?
If one buys $100 on a draw in quick picks, dream picks, and guesses, and $100 on a draw with tickets

Seven Albany state workers won $319 million lottery prize
Of course, retailers do not enter into lottery contracts based on the contingency of selling a jackpot winner. Their primary income will be the 6% on ticket sales, but also the 0.5% of top prizes is across the board on most draw games.(up to $1,000,000 max) The merits of the larger top prize selling bonus are debatable, but the higher profits can give them more of an incentive to increase sales and to actually want their customers to win. That can help them with a positive attitude with a smile

food for thought
I know jackpots ie pick 5's are usually around 50k to start
ONE PICK 4 10 bucks a nite for a straight will produce the same amount of winnings ..I dont know about yall..but I would consider that hitting the jackpot if I chose to go that way..which I would do IF I LIVED IN A LOTTERY STATE to begin with...and why would I do that..the odds are smaller..the smaller the field...the more you can squeeze it!!!!!

What is a lottery system? What distinguishes a lottery system from guesses, dreams and quick picks?
Why are there even systems for jackpot games? Might as well just increase your odds by buying more tickets. The resolution stays the same, which is to say zero. I think if a system is ever found it will rely upon laws discovered by observing patterns because we will see those patterns obeying the same laws. Pick 3 is the likely place to find this and then it shouldn't be hard to apply to all lotteries. It's kind of like looking for the theory of everything....
That said, even without a TOE we

The Next State To Win Mega Millions
Actually if you think about it this thread was quite entertaining.
Jay420 was the only one who had it right and that was one state of two predicted.
There are 40 MM states and D.C, so the odds against picking the right one are 1 in 41 or 40:1 (40 to 1).
Only one person got that right yet people say they can pedict the one winning set of numbers of over 176,000,000.

Lucky Stores?
You know, I DO believe in lucky stores. Why? 1. the Miracle Mile - the odds are totally against it! 2. My own experiences (and watching others too).... I buy scratch-offs occasionally. I have repeatedly only won from one store. One store. Ever. And no, it's not a big seller - it's a freakin' Kroger grocery store!
Unfortunately, I haven't won more than $14 in lottery tickets, so I can't go into that...except that I heard someone won $200,000 from that Kroger. But that's just a rumor.

$312 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised again
By Todd Northrop
Mega Millions lottery players across the United States are pulling out the stops and lottery tickets are being snapped up at a furious pace nation-wide for the Friday evening drawing, which has been raised mid-week to $312 million.
By the time ticket sales close Friday night, the jackpot may be even higher.
The estimated jackpot for the March 25, 2011 Mega Millions drawing was raised Thursday from $304 million to $312 million because of heavier than expected sales in al
