do you pray to win?
Imangine being so greedy that you would interrupt a sermon to ask for help to get more money. The weeds were certainly growing in that mans heart, We all need a certain amount of money to live. But money is not a guarantee of security. If anything it creates a false confidence that leads to foolishness. Yesterday is a cancelled check,Tomorrow is a promissory note,Today is the only cash you have so use it wisely.

pacattack where in outer space are you?
Christmas will be delayed this year. Because of the Patriot Act, all packages will be searched thoroughly and this is really creating chaos with National Security. Also, since any unauthorized aircraft will be shot down, Santa is trying to get around the world by foot and he's very tired of cleaning up reindeer poop. Therefore, Santa has applied for Federal flight clearance, but is on a long waiting list since an 8 reindeer engine doesn't appear in any conventional aircraft manual. When asked t

The Gambling Bill - Any chance of turning it around?
If the Fair Tax Act was enacted, this would not be an issue monetarily, and I suspect revenue is the thrust behind the initiative. If it's a moral issue than they should keep their morals to themselves. To tack it onto the Port Security Bill is back room politics at its worst. The two issues are not even remotely connected. Congress takes more vacation time in one year than most of us have taken in our whole lives. They should cut down the vacation time and consider bills individually ins

Internet gambling restrictions attached to port bill
The port security and Internet gambling legislation was approved 409 to 2 in the House and on a voice vote in the Senate early today, as lawmakers rushed to leave Washington for their fall reelection campaigns. LOL ! Gotta love it. They didn't even think that the Internet Gambling bill was serious enough to stand on its own. They just saw it as a way of covering their butts. The one paragraph pretty much says it all: House and Senate Republican leaders pushed hard to secure the Intern

Some of you....
I think you may find the answer you seek (or the most logical explaination) at this web site http://www.megamillions.com/aboutus/game_security.asp (MegaMillions Game Security). As you can tell, there is more then just 2 draws a week and there is more then a single machine and more then a single ball set that is used. Consider this, 3 hours is spent testing for a procedure that will take less then a minute to televise. So perhaps the answer to your question is to not do it just for 2 draws a w

Online gambling executive arrested on state charges
What I find as an interesting thought is, if all the off-shore gambling sites were to suddenly arrange to collect and submit tax revenue from the winnings of their players, the Execs would get the red carpet treatment here in the US. Oh and in regards to the former Iran President, who of all people was here to speak about Ethics . The local and state police told him he was on his own and absolutely NO security would be provided to him. At least the Police there had the guts to make a stand.

84 Year Old Wins $40M FL Lottery
Mmmm, I remember my grandmother had stopped paying income taxes after she turned 72. It's not like she didn't file or anything like that (which she did) it's just she didn't owe any taxes on what she had earned from the royalty checks she received from the gas oil wells on her land. That's also not including her retirement checks from her job and her social security checks! Heck man she was earning over 50K a year from all sources put together. To bad she was only able not to pay taxes for 3 y

Andy Rooney: Lotteries and lottery players are stupid
Notwithstanding Andy Ruined's usually nonsensical editorial...lottery doe simpact the poor and middle class more than the rich. It is a cynical form of taxation that is indeed regressive and somewhat immoral from a policy-making POV. Governments should not be making money off sick people's vices. The truth is, apart from the sane, ordinary folks like us here at LP , many players are just down-on -their luck dreamers and idiots thinking that they are going to score of their birthday or social

Heathrow
I think they are doing the right thing by cancelling the flights...you guys must have seen the bit on the hand baggage items being struck off the allowed list...I guess they have no choice...my parents were leaving from london for a trip to spain and they have cancelled their tkts...I'm glad they have.......very unfortunate for the non- muslim asians like us as not everyone can differentiate between the muslims and non-muslims and being a non white you can always sense an underlying current of s

More lotteries OR Scrath-Offs...
They are printed under tight security by lottery contractors, like Scientific Games, or G-Tech... The odds are not too good to begin with, but if the State got involved with the printing of them I dam shure wouldn't play em... As it is, I believe the Lottery Commission knows in advance where the jackpot tickets are to go( so they can track them ? )...which blows the heck out of the random theory. ...DD
