sandyk you hit ga 485 for a box
VisionDude, I'm sure pick3 players have done the math also. They know the odds of hitting a number straight is 1:1000 and the odds of hitting a number boxed is 1:220 or better. If you pick 22 numbers which are not a boxed forms of one of the other numbers than the odds of getting a boxed or straight hit is 1:10 each drawing. Spread that over all the pick3 drawings (mid-day and evenings) in the USA , odds are you will hit 4 to 6 times a each day (boxed or straight). Some time ago there was a guy

To all who wrote re: why systems and pattern don't work!
I thank all of you who wrote regarding my posting about why systems and patterns don't work. Some presented some interesting theories regarding the probability of certain numbers repeating within a certain number of draws. One other wrote that the question of colors of the cars passing by needed to have a total number of cars expected to pass in order to figure what the chances are for a repeat of the colors. My answer, of course, is that even if you knew how many cars were likely to pass and e

Protest Changing the Big Game!
Hi Everyone,Like all of you, I too, play the Big Game. BUT I was alarmed to find out the following notice posted on the website recently: The Big Game will be reconfigured to include a larger pool of numbers to select from .We do NOT want a LARGER pool of numbers because that will make it that much HARDER to win! The LESS numbers the BETTER the odds of us winning! But the MORE numbers to choose from, the WORSE the odds are, that is, it will be even HARDER for us to win.I don't want this game re

Does Mathematical Innumeracy foster superstitions and support the belief in them?
What I meant in the second statement was you seem to get off by continuesly insisting that people who play the lottery using some sort of system suffer from a fallacy which is rooted in not having the nessary math skills or understanding. Those who do have the math skills then must suffer some
sort of psychological disorder by trying to out perform the odds.
If a person does come out ahead then they are fooling themselves thinking that they somehow had a possitive effect when it was a not

Cash 5 winner's chance meeting with New Jersey Lottery official confirms $678,674 jackpot prize
What are the odds?
By Kate Northrop
A Jersey Cash 5 jackpot winner was skeptical of their $678,674 win, but a coincidental run-in with a New Jersey Lottery official assured them that it was entirely real.
The odds of winning the lottery are high enough, but simultaneously winning the lottery and running into an off-duty New Jersey Lottery official and having them confirm the win must certainly be an astoundingly rare sequence of events.
The odds of winning the Jersey Cash 5 jackp

Poll for people who have played a long time
Well, the game certainly would not fly in every state due to the ability of smaller states to pay out but there are states where it would work.
Comparing it only to pick 3/4/5 games is definitely a bit myopic.
For instance, this is how it would compare in Michigan to other Michigan games
Daily Keno odds are similar but the payout is only $250,000
Poker Lotto odds are similar but the payout is only $100,000
$2 scratch ticket odds are AT LEAST double what this game wo

Why does it have to be so impossible to win the lottery?
Excitement at 9 digit jackpots has faded.
The daily pick 3 typically pays 500 on odds of 1:1000 (000-999). Depends on where you play, legal or otherwise I suppose. We all know this and it's awesome odds if you ask me. Theoretically, over time you can only win back half of what you play. Whoops, forgot taxes. Yikes. I'm not going to make a living or retire playing the daily. It's like a Toyota, in that it's common, dependable and predictable. I'm not saying predictable in what the numbers will
