Most of the Pick 5's, 6's, MM, PB, etc. can be calculated using a simple nCr function on a calculator or excel which means from n choose r does this nCr= n!/(n-r)!*r! This gives you an equation that calculates if you choose r numbers from n available it has x odds... I.E. (For Example) MegaMillions 5 out of 56 = C(56,5) = 56! / 5! (56 - 5)! = 3,819,816 1 out of 46 = 46, therefore 3,819,816 * 46 = 175711536 There's your outcome... Hope that helps, Pogo

And of course it was a QP that won. I had the following numbers 7 11 17 22 31 37 so, hit 2 and of the 30's I missed by one on EACH!!! and what are the odds that the 36 hits 3 times out of 4???? Plus the 22 repeated from last time also!

Thank you, that's an interesting idea but I've not found a way of picking the winning megaball numbers that beats the odds and as such in the long run I would average about the same picking one number as picking 20 for each drawing. it's a nice payday (of course, divided by 10 doesn't do much for your wallet). Many thanks for your response BobP - much appreciated - but what I am looking to do is make up one part of a system that I am building up (for a 'pick 6' lottery in Australia), and this segment requires the best combination of 3 from 20 (I know the full odds are long).
