I look at it in a numbers sense. I will not play until the Jackpot is at a decent amount for one reason. Fair value of the ticket. I really can't see buying a ticket when the jackpot is at $20,000,000 for a chance at the jackpot. The odds of winning are 1 in 176,000,000. You are spending a dollar for a ticket with a fair value of about $.10. Now the jackpot is at $170M, now the $1 investment has a fair value of almost $1. Now is the time to play and not really when the jackpot is small. Brad

Depends on the game. If you're referring to Pick 3, then the odds of the same numbers appearing on two specific occasions are (1:1,000)x(1::1,000) or 1::1,000,000. If Pick 4, then (1::10,000)x(1::10,000) or 1::100,000,000. The drawing method is irrelevant. gl j

Who can get rich getting 3 numbers right out of 10 on a pick 6, 20% to 40% of the time, if it can do it? I don't know how often it can now get 3 out of 10 for a 6/49 game, but it won't make you rich, or Will it? It might be nice if Guru would do some programming work for pick 3 and 4 games, the odds of winning there are not astronomical.

One of the reasons for joining a lottery pool is to reduce the time, money and energy you spend picking combinations to play while increasing your odds of winning something. I would think that alone would decrease you enthusiasm about playing. You spend about the same as you would on a six pack or a few packs of cigarettes and wait to get lucky and win millions of dollars. I won Pick 5 a few years ago (Matrix 38 or 39 I think) playing 2 boards. I don't like matrix changes because not only increasing the odds again but wrecking my best algorithms and having to start a new draw history. After I won the 5 the matrix changed I never got above 3 numbers. By the time my prg. gets a grab on it they change it again! I would rather see more 20M winners than a few per year 200M winners. More people would play if there were more winners at least close to where they live some

Thanks, yeah I always play straight just to be sure. Funny thing is I never won just boxed yet, only straight and boxed. Too bad I did not play $1.00 or more. But this is easier and no taxes taken out, and straight cash right away. I love that. I am glad the clerk did not mess up as they do sometimes, and give me two boxed tickets or the wrong numbers. It is too hard to hit and too long to wait for mistakes, unless of course those mistakes turn out to be winners. I think the odds are 1/1
