What's the story behind your LP name?
Well, you have to have a calm mind and body when playing these game. When the odds are that you always lose more time than win. So, you muct stay focus at all times and push on. I studied several martial arts for years that always spoke of being ZEN LIKE to finish your goals. Thus the name. ZEN

yea its a good topic, i read people's opinions with enthusiasm. personally i play the same numbers ea week, as its kind of easy to check that way. but i will often buy extra quick picks on top. some time ill buy extra games, but pick my own numbers. depending on the game. I know i have more chance if i buy a ticket than if i dont. even if the odds are so slender they're still better if i actuallybuy one. either QP or my own picks. i dont care. i mean i have that dream, of maybe w

Question about Maddogs Powerball Challenge after 1-01-09
BaristaExpress, I've thought about this already. When Florida joins Powerball in January I myself don't think personally that an increase in the numbers of Powerball from 55 to 59 will make the Challenge that much harder to warrent a change in the numbers of balls allowed in the Challenge. It is a good question and to be fair to all the players who do play the Challenge, I'm going to put it to a vote before the change takes effect. The matrix change will increase the odds of someone hit

N.Y. man spends thousands in search of lottery riches
Mr.Otero's problems are no different than those of many lottery players including some at LP. He want to win big and thinks the more he invest the better his chances. He should remember that small communities invest several time the money he invests and never see a big winner. Just like a small community he has no overall strategy for playing, he just randomly play many games and he probably wins enough small prizes($1, $2 or a free play ) to encourage him to buy even more tickets, that's how lo

Florida Lottery draws same Play 4 numbers
I posted about this in the pick-4 forum on Wed and remarked that 1958 is the year a lot of lottery players are born. That might be why there were so many winners. People bet birthdays a lot, so maybe a birth year is more popular then other combinations. Just a guess. At first I thought 1958 on Tues Wed was another mistake on the FL Lottery web site, but I checked Lottery Post to make sure. Maybe another reason for the large payout is that people bought advanced plays because of the weather.

N.Y. man spends thousands in search of lottery riches
God I hate these stories. I am 23 years old and recently started investing a certain amount of money a month. Even with a modest investment I am seeing returns between 10-30%. This guy is blowing 5 times the amount of money I invest monthly and is getting almost NOTHING back. I spend about $5 to $10 every draw for quick picks and the rest gets invested. What he does not understand is that with disciplined saving and investing you can get the equivalent of a lower tier lottery win in just a few s

His and Hers: Wisconsin spouses win identical lottery jackpots
They won the jackpot four times. THis particular game is not parimutuel. You can have up to seven winning tickets in one drawing, and each will win $350,000. Once it goes beyond seven winners, the jackpot starts getting parimutuel and is divided among the number of winners. (I forget the formula) So if you play, and no one else wins on that day, but you do, you can actually buy 7 tickets and potentially win over 2 million dollars. I guess because the odds of winning the jackpot are over 1.6 m

I thought that QPs were an easy way to win Think about what you wrote. There are over 304 million people in the United States. If it was easy to win any lottery jackpot at all, even one that pays $100,000, don't you think every eligible person would be buying tickets winning? There would be no more poverty, no foreclosures, nobody on welfare, because everyone would just spend $5 or $10 a week and buy some PB tickets.*(note) Whoopee - I'm an instant millionaire! The odds are about 147 m

Quick Picks
I usually play my own numbers but I pick them different ways. I almost never do QP from the lottery terminal. I'll pick my numbers from an excel file sometimes, and other times I'll use LP's RNG. That way I know I still can control the sequence of numbers and not get any odd combinations. It's still longggggggg odds. I have found that over a year I win between 9 and 11 percent of what I play. So while I play to win, I also look at it as my entertainment or hobby.
