Which lottery game?
If you just like gambling then pick3 games are excellent, they don't pay much but you will have a better chance of winning a top prize or $50 or $500 more often which can be satisfying to anyone who just loves gambling, but if you play the lotteries to beat the odds of scoring a big life changing win then any game that has a top prize under $100K is a waste of time. I can think of better ways to get $50 and one of them is to just stop playing lotteries.

Hoosier Lottery
Guru, I understand exactly what you are saying. A free ticket is a prize. But what is it worth?
And trust me I am very familar with the odds posted by the Hoosier Lottery on their Lotto game. The point I'm trying to make is the number of free tickets won exceeds the sum total of all cash prizes paid out at all levels.
What that means in real life is...the actual CASH payouts are horrible.

Futility
Do you think we're all just wasting our time and hard earned money hoping to hit that big Kahuna? (No, not the Hawaiian Lottery).
I don't mean to sound negative, and I know anything is possible, but sometimes reality sets in, and I wonder how great the odds really are.
Like to hear people's thoughts. Thanx.

Statistics question
Hey all...here's a challenge out there for anyone in to the statistical nature of the lottery:
Let's say we are talking about a standard 6-ball lotto, 49 balls. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the chances of winning said lotto is 1 in 13,983,816. Well let's say that a particular lotto has reached a respectable $115 million and everyone and their brother is purchasing tickets. Here's the big question: what are the odds that 14 (yes, that's FOURTEEN) winning tickets will be drawn for

Ohio Rolling Cash5 is on a roll again
Stack,
I don't know about these lottery conspiracy theories. I've noticed there's no honor among a group of dishonest people, usually one of them feel cheated and exposes the rest. When that Indiana lottery security guy trusted his two friends to buy the roll of scratch-off tickets that won the jackpot a couple of years back they wanted a third of the winnings instead of what he had suggested and the whole scheme was exposed. They all ended up with nothing and went to jail.
Knowing how

When they win, dou hound too?
Never been to a casino and have only played blackjack at home with friends. That is why I play the same amount each time I play, so when the big jackpot comes around, I am NOT tempted to look at how much more money I spent trying to increase my odds of winning when only one set of numbers will win anyway. Just curious if any LP members ever asked a winner for a share of a jackpot for whatever their reason(s). And I do not think I have ever seen this question posted.
What if an absolut

The winner of the 7th race was #10 Excessiveobsession.
The odds on #10 were 4/1, not good enuf to give us a profit.
The winning daily double was $20.20, so we lost $1.80.

Mega Millions and Powerball's Less than Exciting Jackpots
My logic was pure but flawed and it had me spending $20 and winning nothing, so I put $20 on Ohio Classic Lotto(6/49) today and matched 4 for $70 so I'll be ready to try MM again Friday for $55M.
I don't usually play OCL because it's a new game and I've been lucky to match 3 for $2 with 20 lines when I've played before but I had a hunch and wanted to test if the bias I've been introducing into my prediction program was working against me more than it was helping me. The overall odds of match

Nope, I had $10 on 466, 9 straights and 1 box. I got 5 straight/box quickpicks and just now looked at them, one was 266. Also, I had 7521 as a pick for Cash 4, it came out as 7421.
Guess that's it for me, not really worth all this aggravation. In the past 4 months, I have had a few hits but at least a 10:1 ratio of numbers being one off. Just not worth the time and effort. About even on the bottom line, probably down a $100 over the last 2 months.
I'm playing the big 185,000,000 to 1 o

What do you think when you see stuff like this?
Another observation I would make on the trend of the mostly odds are that I would be looking for the odd doubles to pop at some point.
I do not see the 11-33-55 pair up there.
I do not see the 15 pr either
