Raffle or Not?
First of all, I know nothing about the Ohio raffle, but the 1,250,000 Florida tickets sold out in a couple of weeks or less. Also, when I wrote a chance to play I was talking about affording to buy a ticket and competing, not getting to the store on time. If you snooze, you lose as the saying goes. You also refer to pick-3 tickets. Spending a dollar (and you can even bet 50 cents) isn't the same as $20 so I don't see your point. Also, with pick-3 a player can bet again the next day. This is

New lawsuit claims Indiana Lottery did not award all prizes
This has to be one of the most bizarre stories I've ever heard. $40k on scratchers? Wow...first of all, he needs his head examined. But, I do understand that he did the math, based on the number of top prizes available, and the odds of the overall game, and decided that if he had purchased that many, he would at least break-even. I get that. I still think his math was off though. Now, for the lottery itself, this is another situation like the California case. There should be some sort of rest

Fact or Fiction
The probability that the day's number would match the number from 2 days earlier is 1 in 1000. That means we should expect it to happen about once every 1000 drawings, or every 33 months (assuming only 1 drawing per day). We should also expect that once every 33 months the day's number will be the same as the number drawn the previous day. Once every 33 months we should expect that the day's number should match the number drawn one week ago or 10 days ago or any other time frame you choose. If

Maryland Lottery raffle game sells fewer tickets than hoped
The odds would change only if the numbers in the draw were limited to those tickets that were sold. If the drawing includes the serial numbers of the unsold tickets this would not be so. Evidently MD is committed to awarding all prizes. Good for them, even with their advertising setbacks and woes. An honorable resolution. gl j

Total Combination List Using Excel?
What other kinds of tests/experiments do you have in mind for carrying it further? Thus far I only play the five draw lotto using CA's Fantasy 5 but if there are other interesting theories where using spreadsheets or a database to raise the odds on the 3 or 4 draw games then I'd be interested in putting it into the machine, or at least putting it on the list of all the other back-testing and coding to do. I had the same question as the original poster of this thread and started working on it a

Most state lottery raffle games sold out
tickets are still for sale in Maryland. Seems like they are a little over half sold. According to a ticket agent i visit the drawing will still take place as scheduled. Knowing this i might buy a second ticket. Since the odds are reduced some.

Millionaire Raffles Across The States Discussion
I have 7 tickets in the Maryland Countdown to Millions raffle. They have 4 $1 million prizes and 8 $50,000 prizes, overall odds one in 517. I bought a ticket yesterday and it was numbered 232,285. They have 420,000 to sell and now say that tickets will be sold until 6 PM on New Year's Day. The drawing was originally going to be Dec. 31. Does anyone know if states generally go ahead and do a drawing even if all tickets are not sold? I'm new to this kind of game and it seems
