Powerball lottery jackpot increased to $86 million
Yes , I do think someone has a chance of winning this one...
If you purchase a ticket, you have a chance.
If you do not purchase a ticket, you have about the same odds of winning as those of us that do.

Rip snorter nails indiana match 5
WOW Jack, I just saw this. A huge blow to the odds....
I hardly ever look at the p-5 forum, and just stumbled on to this.
Breaking even is still better than being in the hole.
GOOD SHOW!

I think it's all luck too, but who's to say? The only reason I chose luck is that so many people who never played before win the lottery, and many of them buy quickpicks. If you're talking about the pick 3 or 4 games, maybe a little skill is involved using a lottery system. I'd even stretch that to include Fantasy 5, although most tickets that win are QPs. I check the press releases regularly, and that's what I see on the FL web site. However, there are too many winning combinations to even

Back testing
That's exactly it...
If your system can't predict results you already know, odds are against it picking results you do not yet have. It is a great litmus test that probably saved me hundreds or even thousands chasing system results over the years.
If you track subtle changes with different data, you can use backtesting to optimize things and answer questions like how many draws do I use? . You can have a system, come up with several variants and backtest them side-by-side.

It Happens Again!
It's just incompetence on the part of the Maryland lotto employees. When I originally saw the same exact combo from yesterday's midday listed, I went to their website. (yeah, sure it can happen...but what staggering odds)
On the home page they showed 8462 as today's draw. But when you went to winning numbers their history showed today's draw was 5215. Todd's feed for the results page (I strongly suspect) gets its drawing combinations from what is reported on the various states homepages.

I think hard work, study and wheeling can get you into the 5 numbers range, but it takes luck to add the 6th correct number to that line.
I often find wheels hit a prize one tier above their guarantee. A 2if wheel often returns a 3# prize. A 3if wheel often captures an 4# prize. A 4# wheel has a fair chance of a 5# or multiple 4# prizes. And of course a high percentage 5# guaranteed wheel for Pick-6 has that magic moment with luck because the biggest leap over odds is the jump from a 5

Pick 4 Math Help?

You're absolutely correct, Thoth - the odds of that permutation hitting are 1::416.67, not 41.67 as I had originally posted. I moved a decimal point. Sorry and apologies to those affected.

New Emma Lou Method
I don't know why, but your picks just look like good picks to me.
Mine look the same to me as well.
I think there is something to this method that gets the odds down just a little bit more for us.

MM Megaplier
Frankly I don't like spending an extra dollar for a game. We don't have MM in Florida, but Fantasy 5 has EZ Match. At first it was very popular and the jackpots increase quite a bit, but I think less people now are spending the extra dollar. I could be wrong, because millions of snowbirds left in May which also has an effect on the lottery. I agree with Prob that it's better to just buy more tickets. If the Matrix changes, I would never play MM or PB. The odds are too high now. What's wrong wi

The China Method Rises Again
Thank you. It will have lots of hits once I get a database built up of a few states and watch the trends. Then less than 75 numbers can be played with good results. Of course it will not always produce a winner, but when I was using only it to predit numbers, it was doing a very good job.
With the online odds the way they are, it can be profitable to play a lot of numbers and make a small profit, but more often.
I will work with it and post some test numbers to see if it is worth play
