Why not a lottery that goes "wide"?
For those players who think winning $100M or more is ridiculous, there are the local lotteries with better odds and smaller jackpots. States use multi-state games with big jackpots to attract more players to all their games because it works. RJOh
I've read that people who normally don't play and don't even know how it works will blow a few bucks on a huge jackpot, which makes no sense to me at all. I've also read that the much higher jackpots attract wealthier people who wouldn't nec

PowerBall has a cap that goes into effect when its jackpot reaches a record amount and then more money is put in the prize pool for the 2nd place winners. I think it only happened once.

Why not a lottery that goes "wide"?
Ohio tried that years ago before the multi-state games when its state lottery was the most popular one in the area. It had several big winners from Pennsylvania and Indiana and some people thought too many players were winning big and not sharing so a limit of $20M per ticket regardless of the jackpot size was tried. They found out that advertising a $60M jackpot with a limit of $20M per ticket didn't attract any more players than advertising a $20M jackpot and the rule was eliminated after th

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
Well, you beat the odds. Congratulations to you.
You should have had a handicap, but since you won, it doesn't matter.
If you repeat the bet in the future, I'd suggest looking at my charts. They're not perfect, but they are instructive and give a decent rule of thumb.

Tx Two Step
I always look around other states lottery websites to see whats happening in the lottery world.
TX's Two Step has the largest jackpot ever in the history of the game. $2,000,000. All cash. I have seen the jackpots to that game before and they barely get over $500,000.
The odds of hitting it are about 1 in 1.8 million so you would actually buy a win now.

match 5 powerball won twice same person?
Winning the jackpot with fortune cookie numbers almost happened.
Winning a jackpot with 146M to 1 odds nearly impossible.
Please stop thinking someone will cut in on your win when you are likely not gonna win the jackpot. It is a dream they are selling us even when they give us back less than half of what we give them

Mega Millions Sets A New Record
That is very possible.
The Powerball has been running about $40M in ticket sales which would bring them, ignoring any reserve filling that may go on, about $12 to put in the cash jackpot. This would leave them just shy of the MM cash value.
PB would still be a better bet because of its lower odds, though.

Another stupid math question
I think the percentage of winning a prize with the three $2 tickets would be 30.2%.
The odds for winning with the $7 ticket would be 36.6%.
Anybody know if that's right?
