odds are reduced
If you don't play MM, you have 0 (zero) chance of winning.
If you purchase 175, 711, 536 combinations, you have an absolute certainty of winning. Represented by 1 (one).
Any tickets you purchase inbetween 0 and 1 represent your chances of winning. So if you bought 50% of the tickets would that not change the odds to 1:1?
It wouldn't affect the payoff itself because the prize could be over or under $175,711,536.00

If you are going to buy 46+ tickets.....
You are pretty much right 46 tickets randomly selected and 46 tickets of all the mega balls will pretty much give you the same overall odds.
But if you buy quick picks chances are you will have a lot of repeat mega or power balls which will cut out the fact that you have every mega ball covered. If you make sure you have all the bonus balls you can count on just matching the first five numbers. If you use quick picks you have to count on having the bonus ball first which doesn't nessecarily

ABC duped by Powerball lottery winner hoax
Since three people flew in from elsewhere, rented a car, and stayed overnight it's a safe bet that they spent closer to $4000, but they did it for publicity, not attention. The author mentioned in the story writes about marketing and advertising, and for a measly (and presumably tax deductible) $4000 he got national coverage from major news sources.
They didn't spend the money on tickets because they aren't morons. If they'd spent $4000 on tickets the odds say they would have gotten back

Record Powerball lottery jackpot claimed by 8 meat plant workers
Funny how they say that the lottery cannot be beaten, and regardless of how many tickets you play the odds are still astronomical. Yet for some reason the majority of most of the winners within the last year have all been factory workers in lottery polls, spending anywhere from $40 and up over $100. Could this spell trouble for the individual player, or is it already?
I don't think it is a coincidence that those who are able to play a lot more plays are hitting the jackpot more often than th

If you are going to buy 46+ tickets.....
No my math isn't wrong. If you had to have the numbers in the exact order that they came out then your math would be right. But luckily the numbers can be in any order. It's called combinatorics.
Even if you don't know much about math....just think about it. If you buy the 46 tickets for Mega Millions you have pinned the mega ball already. It doesn't matter what mega ball comes out you have it already. You are now playing a game of matching the 5 white balls on the same line as the me

alittle odd...
The odds against hitting 5 + 1 or against 6 for 6 are a constant, the jackpots change is all.
You would think the more play, the more winners but it's just more proof that there is no such thing as a lock.

Again...I dont know why I bother with PB
I have been playing lottery for 20 years and the most I won was $150 once and $100 twice playing Powerball and The Big game. The Big game since the first draw of 1996. Spent ~$20,000 in the states for the past 16 years all without luck. I play from the initial jackpot up to as high as it gets. I also been playing same sets of numbers constantly for the past 12 years. Play QP also. All without luck. Unfortunately thats the down side to it. THE ODDS ARE AGAINST YOU. Its upsetting but its part of
