How lucky have you been with scratch offs?
It's exciting to scratch off more than you paid for the ticket. There are so many tickets printed for each game it's staggering sometimes to imagine winning at all when you step up to the counter. There's always hope of course, but the real chances of winning anything large $500,000 - $1,000,000 are pretty slim considering just how many are out there. I think it amounts to being at the right place, right time. I'd love to be the lucky person to scratch off an amount that reads:

Joint Mega Million / Powerball game
If Mega Million and Powerball teamed up and offered a $10 60/40 Raffle with the states keeping 40% of the pot and 60% of the pot going to ONE winning ticket once a year would you play it ? If they sold 175,000,000 tickets in one year you would have a chance at a ~$1,000,000,000 (1 billion dollar) CASH jackpot once a year and the odds would be comparable to both games. The 40 or so states in both games would have to sell about 84,000 tickets per week to get it up to a billion but if it w

Illinois Lottery creates four lucky millionaires
I wasn't a winner. I had swore off ever playing a raffle again, but got suckered back in with the notion that maybe this time might be different...maybe I might win $1,000 after having played countless numbers of lottery raffles without anything to show for the $20 to $50 bucks I laid out for the single tickets. From now on, I am sticking to my guns. I would rather wager $20 bucks for 20 different MM/PB tickets as the way I see it, at least I have 20 chances to win that jackpot, and even if I do

Ouestions and doubts about the lottery
I sure wish I could find enough people to play my 1000 number raffle game. Each ticket would have a different 3 digit number from 000 - 999 for only 2 bucks and at the end of the day, I'd hold the drawing paying one lucky winner $583 if it's a single number, $666 for a double, and $1000 for a triple. Oh and there would be five other winners of $83 each for a single and two other winners of $166 for a double! Let's see, if I sold all 1000 tickets, I would collect $2000 every drawing and the mo

Don't you think that 5 dollar scratchoffs should give out 2 & 1 dollars winner tickets..
I usually buy $5:00 tickets, get back 10 dollars, usually save them until i get something close to 100 bucks, i'll get brave and buy a $20 buck scratch off. Hummmm, i'll buy a $20 dollar millionair raffle oppose to $20. scratch offf.

Pennsylvania Lottery's raffle makes 4 millionaires
Right you are! If you buy 20 Quinto tickets, all bearing the same number, you have 1 in 100,000 chance of winning $1 million cash. And you can place that bet twice a day, if you are so inclined - you don't need to wait for the raffle. Nice catch!

Playing Location
I think its a combination of randomness and the amount of traffic that runs through a store. If one store has a total of 100 lottery tickets sold a day and another store sells 500 tickets, it is more likely to have a winner because they have more tickets in the pool of possible winners. Same thing as when they have a raffle....some people buy more because they want to be entered more times, thus having more of a chance to win....or if you decide to buy one MM or PB ticket verses 20. I think that
