By ending the game early, it didn't change the odds on getting a top tier prize much, if at all. Each top tier prize is distributed within a grouping of x number of books. So when the game stopped it's likely there were many of these groupings that were never put out, with a top tier prize in each grouping. I think the likelihood of someone picking or predicting all the winning numbers here are the same as any where. While there are thousands of predictions here every day, they are for hundreds of different games and usually only 200-500 per drawings are for any particular jackpot and pick5 type game. For pick5 games with 1:500K odds, a 5of5 can be expected to be picked once every 1,700 drawings and for pick6 games with odds of 1:14M a 6of6 can be expected to been picked once every 47,000 drawings.

Why would MM risk losing people/money with new matrix?Reply
My guess is that MM will eventually do exactly what PB did - reduce the odds and double the ticket price. What better way is there to justify raising the ticket price in the future than raise the odds, complain about poor sales and lower the odds and raise the price. Do you think their long term plan is to raise the ticket price to $3?

In fact, a quick pick has exactly the same odds of being drawn as a so called system' generated ticket. Ok, so a QP has the same odds as a system ticket. But what about a group of system tickets over a group of QPs??? Im talking about getting BETTER ODDS playing 28 numbers in a 5/56 game which is 98,820 lines.

I also wouldn't mind a game with much lower odds of winning and a higher ticket price for the high rollers like me. As a high roller you can have better odds and a higher price any times you choose, all you have to do is spend more on tickets. If you double the amount of tickets you buy you will double your price and split your odds by 2.

Since Mega Millions is changing in October will you be playing more now before the change?Reply
I plan to play more before the change if the jackpot ever roll to a decent amount. Right now, the local 6/49 has a jackpot of $41.7M with odds of winning it that are 13x better than MM. Even after the overall odds improve to 1:14 of winning a prize, the jackpot will have to roll to a decent amount before I buy a ticket. I'm all about playing for a decent jackpot with best odds for my dollars.

It's actually quite common for odds (against) to be less than the prize on higher denomination scratch tickets. You have to factor in the increased wager value (ticket price) like $20 tickets have into the equation. So the odds could be several times lower than the prize, up to denomination / 2 times, but typically just a few times lower. Like may $20 games have 1-in-30 odds for $100 prize, etc.

What to do with megamillions?Reply
For players who simply pick the game with the best odds for its jackpot size, the change won't matter. This week-end Ohio's Classic Lotto has a jackpot of $36.2M with odds of 1:14M, MegaMillions has a jackpot of $15M and PowerBall a jackpot of $50M both with odds of 1:175M, for this type of player a dollar spent for a OCL ticket is clearly the better choice.
