Best Odds to win a Million dollar Lottery Raffel !
It's really strange how some states always sell out before the draw, but other states barely manage to break even. I imagine that it has to do with (a) the way they structure the particular raffle, and (b) proper marketing. If people don't see the game as exciting whether in the marketing message or in the cost vs. prizes/odds they won't buy it.
I personally think that those states that generally stick with traditional lotto games (and rules) do much better with raffles and other new games. T

Good luck to all Florida Lottery players tonight~
Thanks! Which game did you play? Wed night is Lotto night, so I will play my 4 regular combinations and a Fantasy 5 ticket.
I have one raffle ticket for New Year's Eve, so I hope I win something, even $500 (although a million would be nice) They were just sold out a couple of hours ago.
Good luck to you!

What to do with $500,000?
Yes, GamerMom, there is a 20 year annuity, but not on the Raffle. Some of the scratch-offs in Florida give you the option of a 20 year pay-out or a lump sum like the For Life tickets. Also, the FL MegaMoney game is a 20 year annuity or lump sum but, as I already wrote, at 77% or better (which it's been lately) I'd always take the cash. Take the money and run....(great Woody Allen movie!)

What to do with $500,000?
I thought as much, I am wondering where he got the idea that you get an annuity on a raffle?? And the FL Lottery says nothing about a 20 year annuity, just a 30 year.
Personally I would not quit my job after winning $680,000. I could not afford the luxury of being without medical insurance and for medical reasons it would be almost impossible for my son or me to get private insurance. Plus...it's only $680,000!!! I have a house to pay off and kids to put through college. I would much ra

207 Million over.
I wasn't saying purchasing all posible combinations is a smart way to guarantee a win, but from a mathematical standpoint it would guarantee you a win. However you would still lose money due to taxes (unless the cash option was over $400 million), and the risk of splitting the jackpot would still be there. Nevermind the hastle of purchasing and double-checking that many pieces of paper ;)
The odds are different for a game such as the FL raffle since they are picking 9 winners out of 1,000,000

Best Odds to win a Million dollar Lottery Raffel !
I'm reading all the links from the site. So far, it looks like a great way to sell a home. However, if you win a house, you better be prepared to pay the taxes and upkeep. Of course, you could always raffle it off if it doesn't work out! I suppose if you own a house you can rent it until you resell it.
Any CPAs here? I'm pretty sure you have to pay Federal and State income tax on the home you win before taking possession of it. So if it is appraised for a million bucks, then you might need t

$42M lottery winner plans to become a pecan farmer
Well just maybe churches should get in on the game and start selling lottery tickets. Heck some of them already sell raffle tickets, so what's the big deal?! The church would get a commission on the daily ticket sales plus commission bonus whenever anyone wins. I see it as a win-win situation. I know some naysayer is going to say that a church can't have a lottery terminal installed in their church...I know that...but some enterprising churches do own land and commercial buildings and businesses

International super lottery to create jackpots of $500 million or more
Stack,
I agree with you about the raffles. I wish CT would have a raffle, so I wouldn't have to travel out of state to play one. I would be plenty happy just winning 1 mill, plus with the raffles you know when the numbers are drawn there will be a certain number of jackpot winners, unlike a lotto game that could drag on for months with no jackpot winner.
