How lottery legend Joan Ginther used odds, Uncle Sam to win millions
The reporter asks two question of which the answers should be obvious. 1. Why would Ginther, a math-savvy woman with a Ph.D. from Stanford, leave her home in Las Vegas, a block from three casinos, to devote countless hours to lottery longshots? 2. She could resolve the mystery by cashing in again by telling all in a book or selling her story to Hollywood. It was obvious she made more money playing the lotteries in Texas than she could playing the casinos in Vegas. If someone disco

$70 million Calif. SuperLotto winner comes forward
I believe I'd rather play Russian Roulette than break into the average Texas home; the odds would be better against getting shot. Who is going to announce to the world that they have thousands of dollars in a safe in their house? Not me and I'm sure rcb wouldn't either. So called safe investments these days have a rate of return less than annual inflation...and I'm not so sure they're that safe. I'd still invest in stocks, CDs, etc. but I'd also invest in other things, too, things that would be

Summertime Connecticut SuperDraw
Next Sunday, July 6th, the summertime SuperDraw raffle for 1 million dollars will be held. My wife bought a ticket yesterday and I was surprised by how low the number was. It was in the 169,000 range. To me that says it was the 69,000th ticket sold out of a possible 275,000. On the CT Lottery's website, they say the first ticket sold will be 100001 and the last would be 375000. If that's correct, then my ticket is the 69,000th ticket printed. If the website isn't correct, the ticket number

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
I think the reality with Scratchers is that you have to play them like you gamble in Las Vegas. It's entertainment first and foremost. I honestly feel no different emotionally when I go through a losing stretch than I did a week or so ago when I won $500 over several days(I only count $100+ winners). It's more like the rush that I enjoy. I can never figure out people for example who just scratch the code off and put it under the scanner to see if they win and never scratch the card at all. That'

The new odds for Mega Millions have been a failure!
To Noise-Gate: Of course its astronomically hard/impossible either way my friend but you know we are just playing a fantasy anyhow so why not make it a bigger one right? Its entertainment for a few hours no? Of course if our numbers come up sweet. I mean if your out with your buddies and decide to head home late but need a quick meal do you get the best fantasy/entertainment stopping by Waffle House or Hooters right quick? lol To Maringoman Mr. Craft: Im with you on the budget. Would You Play This MUSL?
a consultation with a financial advisor would be a mandatory stipulation. and Just a consultation, they don't have to hire anyone or listen to any advice presented. If the jackpot winner doesn't have to listen or do anything, what is point of making it mandatory? Sounds like somebody believes the lotteries have some responsibility for financial mistakes by future winners and this mandatory stipulation gets them off the hook. FYI, each state lottery member of the MUSL decides their own ru
