Wisconsin man wins $1.4 million playing 4 identical tickets
Really...I started playing it again when they went to the new 1/39 format. The old 1/36 format paid nothing at all for 3 of 6 and that was always pretty easy to get. Now at least you get a buck for 3 of 6, and that's twice what the line costs you. As to the jackpot odds, that is still a lot better than Powerball. If I worried about jackpot odds a lot, I wouldn't play. The thing you can be sure of is that the odds will be beaten on a regular basis. The old 1/36 format for SC used to produce jus

Odds Don't Change When Jackpot Goes UP
oops, i wrote: If one person played one combination the odds would be 1 in 146 million, meaning 146.000.000 - 1 = 159.999.999 combinations left. if two persons would play one combination each (different numbers) the odds would be 146.000.000 - 2 = 159.999.998 combinations left. the odds would not be 146.000.000 / 2 --> 1 in 73.000.000!!! That should ofcourse be: If one person played one combination the odds would be 1 in 146 million, meaning 146.000.000 - 1 = 145.999.999 combinat

Store clerk judging you.
The odds on the back of these things say like 1 : 4.62 has a prize, yeah right, I've bought 10 - 20 tickets of the same game purporting these odds, and got a goose egg on more than one occasion, testing the validity of the odds. This type of experiment with the scratchies is what led me away from playing them. I am curious, what is the common house keep, and the payout, because if people knew these numbers they would be better informed. MD posts the games' remaining prizes and expirations on t

MegaMillions and Quick Pick
I think QP's win more because more people play QP's. Unlike many LP members, most players don't want to be bother with picking their own numbers and making out play slips. Lotteries are designed with odds that favor the states taking your money without cheating and most players are trying to the same but the odds are against them. Up until Shane3 started this thread I had thought he would trying to develop a strategy to improve his odds of winning but now I not so sure.

Personal Numbers
Thank you RJ ! Floyd: you have your thoughts, statistical odds, and whatever, other people have theirs: Four numbers from the 40's just hit Wednesday night, you are saying the odds are just as good for that to recur as not ? I'm sorry, I don't buy it. To follow your thoughts, then the odds are just the same for ALL of the numbers in the prior game to hit in tonight's game as not, and I don't think there is anyone on here that would take that bet (all 6 repeating). Statistically sp

do you celebrate milestones
I splurged a little when I hit for a nice sum of money twice and now I'm on the fast track to hit atleast 2-3 times a week...I have every reason to celebrate becuz i also know that not only did I make extra mostly tax free income, I beat the incredible odds against me...Some talented people here are beating the odds and I think some of us take it for granted...consider the guy who would give an arm and leg to know what you know, to predict the way you predict, to have better odds of winning at a

SC Millionaire Raffle
humor me Jimmy and post the odds on the raffle ticket from PA's raffle. I think it will surprise you that the odds are much better and the payout is pretty good in comparison to other games that carry a 1 million payout. Gosh, most 20$ scratchers have higher odds on then the raffle....1 out of 720,000. ...

probability types
Thoth, Are you suggesting that the significant of a particular event repeating is more important than the repeatable of particular numbers? For example (the event)- 26% of PowerBall drawings have no numbers from the previous three drawings which means by eliminating the 12-15 numbers in the previous three drawings a player could increase his odds of winning the jackpot or second prize 400-500% every time that event happened, but would having the better odds 26% of the time and no chance 74%

Fair deal or not...
The odds of matching 0+1 in MegaMillions are 1:75 and pays $2. The odds of matching 2+0 are 1:19, why do you think it would be fair to pay $2 for both? Even a pick3 game with a top prize of $500 for a dollar bet can't offer those kinds of odds/payouts. You want to be paid $2 for spending $1 and losing. That would be a good deal, too good to be real.

I love big jack-pots
Believe it or not, some LP members have posted they never play the jackpot games, they prefer playing to win $50 with odds of 1:220 in a pick3 game than playing to win $5M+ with odds of 1:15M in a state game or $50M+ with odds of 1:135M in one of the multi-state games. I prefer the jackpot games because it's a lot easier to earn $50 by working than it is to win it in a pick3 game while it's a lot easier to win $50M+ in a jackpot game than it is to earn it by working.
