Mathematics and the Lottery
RNG lotteries are not truly random, they are pseudo-random. Computers are man made and logical in function. The calculations come from mathematical algorithms starting with a seed, and each subsequent number based upon the last. As such, the numbers are repeatable and randomness can be eliminated. However, seeds can be based upon such factors as milliseconds of time thereby creating an infinite seed factor. And without the knowledge of the specific seeding (which can be, and often is, a one spec

Data base to check what number sets were played??
The numbers that the lottery selects doesn't matter. They choose one set. What matters is the numbers that the players select. They choose many. I am not saying that because you choose a unique combination, your numbers are more likely to be chosen. I am saying that if you choose a unique combination, you are more likely to win the whole jackpot and not have to share it. So think of this as completely independent of the balls drawn.
Ira shared the jackpot because someone else had the same num

Post your scratch ticket results
Thanks shyguitar,
I like your strategy of scratch one, buy one. Would work well in a non busy store. I do win often but like any good gambler, I speak mostly about how much I win and infrequently about the losses! You are correct about the amount of top prizes on his game but Mass has been cutting back on the total tickets in a print run so the odds are still better than any other state lottery. Only 25 million for this run. They do this so the games sell out and do not linger on the shelves

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
I am interested in seeing the payout structure myself too. I read those posts, although the same scratch card company is producing it by looking at the ticket layout, PA version has a $200K top prize and IL has a $100K top prize, I looked closely at the CA Lottery March 2014 RPP PDF file and it says $500 will be the top prize. I think this game will be a hot seller due to more realistic chances of winning. Some people sitll have the perception that the top prizes do not exist until they see one

Lotto Guy System
I found this over at lottery-guy.com which has some reviews and this is what he says:
Lotto Guy Lottery System / Smart Play Lotto Wheels a 1 page system that says to simply pick numbers according to certain patterns, using sums, odds/evens and high/lows. None of which helps one jot. But the best bit is the hilarious claims of being University Developed, Tested and Proven now there's a research paper I would love to read :-). Oh, and I'm sure the name similarity is merely coincidental too.

What's the oddest lotto question you've been asked?
When there's a frenzy there's suddenly a whole bunch of new 'experts' and media hype and all kinds of odds comparisons but I'm not refering to those.
My wife and I know a guy who has been playing a long, long time, all the draw games. So the other day we bump into him and he asked if there are any prizes beside the jackpot!
Kind of floored us.
He plays his own numbers and QPs but I don't think he's ever read the back of a playslip.
How about you? Anyone asked you a question that kind

Can Lottery Ball Machines Cheat - Be RIGGED ?
The first thing losing players scream, It's rigged! The truth is, there's no need for it to be rigged. The odds do their job taking your money.
I know I'm spitting in the wind on this, but the whole point of pre-tests is to make sure the ball sets and machine are performing randomly. Sure it would be great to just start up the machine and have a go, but not if someone has sneaked in there and swapped out the balls. Right? The lottery uses outside contractors for their balls and machines, and

Colorado moves to forbid online lottery sales
One of the things that concern me about online lottery sales is the state(s) get their paper trail on the details of your gambling habits. Of course, once a database is established, a profile is available to any agency that wants it bad enough. I don't know about all states, but here in New Jersey, there is a certain anonymity to winning and collecting cash under $600 per ticket over the counter. With online, even if you can collect certain amounts without taxes, the state(s) will be aware of su
