Some lottery winning streaks have defied belief
He cashed 590 tickets each with a value over $600 and was given a W-2G for each ticket and probably bought very few of those tickets unscratched. The term ten percenters comes from race tracks where winning betters paid someone 10% of the winnings to cash tickets that required a SS number and getting a W-2G. What percentage is deducted, depends on the amount of the winnings and with some tickets, it might be 50%.
The Ohio Lottery and several other states claim forms has something like this un

Would you quit your job if you won the lottery?
I think most people have been so focused on not loosing their jobs, saving for the future, paying those bills, taking care of the kids, keeping that security.... and in doing do, for years, they failed to develop hobbies, challenging interests, explored new ideas, traveled, relaxed and go beyond themselves. If i won the lottery I'd be the busiest man on planet earth. Soooooooo much to do. Soooooooo many places to explore. Sooooo many classes to enroll in. Sooooooo many books to read. Sooooooo ma

Scratchoffs or 401K
Can you take a loan from your 401k and pay yourself back? With our plans we can, tax free.
You don't have to be a lottery winner to talk to a financial planner.
My Mom used to tell me, have more then one source of income, track your spending and always have 6 months of money in the savings in case something happens.
With time, patience, discipline , willpower, you can build financial security.
It won't happen overnight, but it will happen if that's what you strive for.

What would your day to day life be after winning?
I beg to differ with your assumption. We currently live in a gated community but only one of the entrances has a guard. The other entrance is access card or bar code activated so many people are able to sneak in. This is by no means a high end neighborhood as most of the homes range in value from 500k to the 1.5 million.
If I was fortunate enough to win a Mega million or Powerball jackpot then an exclusive guard gate community with multi-million dollar homes would be my preference for a place

As a Lottery JP winner: Would you " help" your city out if they were on the verge of bankruptcy?
In large part, yes.

This passage seems to be key:
According to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, 53.6% of Americans pay a portion of their income in federal income taxes, and 46.4% don't. Of those who don't, 61% (28.3% of the population) pay payroll taxes, such as Social Security and Medicare, but have enough deductions and tax credits that their federal income tax liability has shrunk to ze

As a Lottery JP winner: Would you " help" your city out if they were on the verge of bankruptcy?
So lets get this straight bigbear29. You just said in an earlier post that you wouldn't give $10 million to a city if you became a rich man by winning the lottery. However, you have no problem calling for more laws stealing even more of other peoples money while your not rich yet. That sounds like hypocrisy. It's attitudes like that which make the politics of envy alive and well. It floats in the air out there don't it?
Now you trot out the tired old cut foreign aid routine. Thats less than 1

Indiana woman claims Blue Chip Casino owes her $28M
Thanks noise-gate. Saylorgirl pretty well described the scenario in her post.
Also let me add if there was such a jackpot that machine would have been under surveillance from the eye in the sky and people on the floor.
The Tropicana in Vegs had a slot that had a $2M jackpot. Every time it jammed and they had to call a slot mechanic there was the mechanic and two security people. One of the mechanics was an absolute nervous wreck when he worked on that one slot.
For the people in this th
