Never say never
Texas Joey,
I have a booklet on lotto and part of it is a list of of nevers (never play these) by Gail Howard. Consecutive numbers is one of the nevers.
It only takes about any given ten days on the forums here at LP to see almost her entire list to be baloney. Never play all odds, never play all evens, never play all highs, never play all lows , etc...
The only real solid information in it is if you play 1,2,3,4,5,6 you're going to split the jackpot a lot of ways if it hits, and make o

I Always thought an 85% or 90% number reduction would be enough.
The deduction has sound reasoning in the math.
If the previous day's drawing contained three different numbers there are 343 combinations that do not contain any of the three numbers and 657 combinationss that do.
If the previous day's drawing contained a double there are 512 conbinations that do not contain any of the two numbers and 488 combinations that do.
If the previous day's drawing was a triple there are 729 combinations that do not contain that number and 271 combinations that

There is no reason Mega Millions and Powerball can't allow jackpot winners to remain anoymous
I dont trust computerized drawings, which the hoosier lottery uses. Indiana allows anonymous winners. Also, the Indiana lotto almost never gets above a few million, where before, when they used balls and it was televised, it would get over 10M quite often.
Plus, the lottery is set at 1M for the first 2 drawings after a winner, so it isnt even increased if a winner isnt chosen until a 3rd drawing and then only increases 500K. Also, the cash option is so low, it isnt even worth playing. Last wi

Another dirty little secret to consider when playing mega in NY
I think I just have too much time on my hands to have to ask these questions. But anyway. I asked and now I regret it. The NYS lottery system is set up so that every terminal is autonomous from any other computer. In other words there is no one main frame computer spitting out numbers to all the terminals as people buy tickets. Each machine has a numbers generator that generates its own specific set of quick pick numbers that come out of that machine you are playing at, at the time you are playi

Money Matters 101
It's the Stack-Meister!!! What's up, man? Thanks for the piggy back on this post and he was just being very honest because he doesn't understand the art of eclipsing the preset odds of Pick3 @ 1 in 1000. Turn this around with playing in the neighborhood of 3/4 of the total numbers with a duplicating system and you produce winners. It's really not rocket science at all.
Lotteries don't bank on local players wagering lots of numbers to get that str8 payout at $500 to $1. If one would just be pa

Pennsylvania Pick 3 - 4 Serious Players
Sam- you seem to have a yearning for methods and one that I have seen used is:
Gather randomly 70 different numbers. Then watch the sheet for 5-7 days.(you dont have to play them just watch) Odds can be in your favor that one of them will hit as a box hit in that 7 day time frame. If doubles are in the offering place them on the sheet to balance out the concept .
a drawback is the cash flow needed. But if ya hit, then bragging rights can be optional :)
Usually you'll find that we are ea

This will make you NOT want to play the lottery
Pirax, the more numbers involved the more the odds are stacked against you which I'm sure you must know. Now, trying to match (6) numbers out of (38) isn't impossible but, it will be extremely hard to accomplish. This is especially true if trying to do it str8 which means lots, and lots, and lots of combining (permutating) to even begin to get started. Now, what I'd do is simply combine a specific small range of numbers to play and when the conditions look favorable for the numbers to fall withi

Do you believe the lottery is 100% honest in everything it does?
When states first started offering pick 3/4 games it was their bread and butter money maker now lottery's makes the most cash daily selling scratch offs. They don't have to rig pick 3/4 games to generate cash the game already makes money because people have an on going belief that they can somehow defeat the odds and win more than they spend which for the most part is not the case.
If most people play the lottery every day spend $10.00 or more on lottery numbers pick 3 games every day th

This will make you NOT want to play the lottery
Ahh, okay.
I just find it interesting to compile the numbers and having the thrill of seeing your number show up straight. It's great! I just hope the people who disapprove of state lotteries don't buy 50/50 tickets at fairs or other community raffles....their odds are pretty bad for it
And I'm up to 3 straight wins for FL. 2 wins were in my list of filtered numbers which was probably $5 or so to play the small list ($25 to play the whole thing) and yesterday I mentioned playing all 10 co

I encourage LotteryPost members...
exactly. there is a fine balance between lottery and other games of bypassing hard work and getting funds faster (main reason why most of us do what we do :)
the fine line is how easy is to play a particular game, ie. casino requires time (car, to get there, deal with sales people on the floor etc:)
the odds in the lottery are already astronomical for all lotteries (governments, States made sure of that!) adding 7-number lottery or 2$ a ticket is not necessary in my opinion, States are rac
