Store owner tried to scam woman out of lottery winnings
A job well done by the Louisiana Lottery in helping to track down Fong Kwok for what is rightfully hers, and in denying what appears to be a verifiable seasoned, veteran, well experienced lottery winnings' thief, Alhinda, a day of victory in con and private Kleptocracy. I hope that the Louisiana Lottery would be further inspired and encouraged to look into their records for possible past fraudulent claims that Alhindi may have made with or without success. It is a Good day for Fong Kwok, a

Arkansas woman loses bid for $1M lottery ticket picked from trash
This is BS, the ticket was thrown away, it belongs to the woman who found it. I hope this is overturned on appeal. You can tape anything you want on the trash allegedly but as far as I know the law states that once something goes in the trash it is fair game. The trash logic makes no sense regardless. First you could make the crazy argument that if you threw away your ticket by accident you would not be able to retrieve it and second if tickets are thrown in the trash and can't be retrieved,

Illinois Mega Millions winner to come forward
Coin Toss, I mentioned affluent guard gated community. Most of your neighbors are well off and will respect your privacy. I live in such a neighborhood where many CEO's, professional atheletes and celebreties reside. There has never been any issues within the community and the media is always kept at bay by our security team. Several years ago a Florida lotto winner purchased a home here and relocated his entire family. Last I heard they are doing just fine. Even Realtors must have approva

N.J. couple claims $70M Powerball jackpot
Hey Gym, I think you could keep yourself anonymous if you let your attorney form a trust for you and then let your attorney claim the money on behalf of the trust. The attorney faces the media instead of you. I've heard people on this forum and other legal sites recommend it. Lottery officials and the IRS would know the true identity of the person behind the trust (they do a social security number sweep to see if you owe back taxes or child support). But the media would not know the person be

$363 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised due to heavy sales
One thing for sure, for whoever wins tonight, however-many people win tonight. This isn't money anybody has earned, generated from working and sweating 12-15 hour days, using their skills and talents, to build a business, a financial portfolio, security for their loved ones. It's a windfall that dropped from the heavens above, crashed through their roof, and plopped down in their living room. It's the giant sack of cash that fell outta the Brinks truck taking the corner too fast by your ho

$363 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised due to heavy sales
It would change my life certainly, but ruin? I don't think so. I would buy some property for myself, but not rental property. Stocks are a better and easier investment in my opinion. I'd quit my job and work as an investor of my own money. I'd probably also legally change my name some time after claiming to try to avoid some of the inevitable harassment. Sure, that's public record but it would make you a little harder to find. Hired security for myself and my home could also be afforded if

Why can't the US be like other countries and not tax lottery winners?
In a word - Spending. No other government in the world spends like ours, so we need to tax everything possible. We are buried in an avalanche of debt right now and the current administration thinks the way out is through more spending. We're now funding studies on how men wash their packages in Zimbabwe and why Chinese hookers drink so much. We need to know these things. It's a matter of national security.
