Indiana convenience store sells winning $163M Powerball ticket
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are estimated at 195 million to one.
But when your convenience store sells the winning ticket, it suddenly doesn't seem quite as impossible.
Funny...I remember I used to work in Naples and went to the racetrac station across the street. I used to buy all my tickets there because they seemed to be the only people who didnt screw up the tickets printing them out..never won anything. I switched work locations and it couldn't have been more than a co

Am I being punished for something?
I guess it won't help, but I'll add my story. About 20 minutes ago I was a Sweetbay (a supermarket) and bought my Fantasy-5 ticket for $1. I knew from watching the scratch-off games on the Florida web site that a few of them still had the majority of top prizes left. Sapphire 5's is a $2 instant game that pays up to $20,000 and has overall odds of 1 in 4. It has 20 of 20 top prizes unclaimed. So I figured, for the first time in years, I'd buy a couple of scratchers. Maybe I'll only win $1, right

TEST DRAW insider info for new Powerball. 17 & 7 are ON FIRE.
But thats just me, I'm just a suspicious person when dollar amounts are at these levels!
===============================================================
I think its really interesting that the odds for PowerBall are increased to
1 in 195,249,054 and somebody (One lucky ticket) hits the jackpot right
off the bat!
Anybody know if it was a QP or someone's picks?
Best Of Luck!

Lottery Pool/Club
I'm not telling anyone what to do. I'm offering some good advice, and it's up to the person reading to decide wat to do with it.
Like BobP said (in a much better way than I did), the odds are so slim no matter which way you go. Playing solo is better from a risk-to-reward standpoint.
Having a thousand tickets for one drawing gives you a better chance of winning, but ever so slightly, and any minisule edge gained does not even the risk-to-reward ratio.
The whole point of playing in a d

Your risk to reward ratio isn't any worse by playing in a pool, either. I'd say that makes it strictly a matter of personal preference. There's no objective basis for saying one is better than the other.
OTOH, by suggesting that somebody switch from playing in a pool when jackpots are large to playing solo regardless of jackpot size you're suggesting that they make a deliberate choice to increase their risk relative to the reward. Why spend $1 for a 1 in 20 million chance of winning $5 millio

Todd, you appear to be missing the point on many levels.
1. Winning a million dollars is exactly the point. And that is after a pool split and after taxes.
2. The risk reward is best under two conditions. One, large jackpots (winning money contributed in previous draws) and two, playing in a pool.
3. The only way to improve ones chances is to buy lots of tickets. Best way and most economical way is to play in a pool.
4. Large numbers and slim odds does not make it a different balgame

@Dead Aim
I have never seen a post of yours that wasn't meant to counter any line of thinking that was considered normal by the masses.
KYFloyd has had multiple posts on odds, probabilities and other mathematical relations to the lottery. Most of his other posts appear informative and correct to me.

Help on new lottery system
Sorry to say those are odds, not the number of combinations necessary for a closed cover 100% wheel. The lottery is saying you should AVERAGE a 3# win for every 103 tickets or draws. If you don't win you may win twice in the next 103 tickets or draws. No one can supply you with 103 lines that must win a 3# prize.
The best wheel known (39,5,3,5) requires 240 combinations to cover.
That's not to say you can't come close, as almost 50% of such a wheel is necessary to close the final 10%

online gaming
I was just reading a post from '06 in the News forum, where U.S. politicians spoke of online betting games as not belonging in U.S. living rooms and being harmful to U.S. families.
I think with the old and nasty administration ways about to (potentially)drastically change, people like you and I have better odds at being heard and understood by the lawmakers who are supposed to work for us.
I DEFINITELY say they should stop trying to end online gaming
and in fact they should reverse

Pumpi 76........that condition you are speaking of is in medical terms referred to as: SAVANT. ....
The SAVANTS .....are extrodinarily gifted, to the point of being geniuses in one particular Specialized way, and scientists are still trying to understand the condition. As you mentioned they cannot do simple, easy mundane , everyday things that we take for granted, but have a Genius, and extrodinary gift to accomplish something that the rest of us would have to spend almost a lifeitme of learn
