N.J. Lottery to offer limited raffle-style New Year's drawing
Am glad they have this in nj.
I am assuming the drawing is computerized because how else would it be done? Being a SIX-DIGIT number (I guess 000001 thru 500000), it would be impossible to use a draw machine (you might if you had 5 digits and one of them was only 0 thru 4), and with 500,000 tickets it would be difficult to have a person pick it from some giant drum. The only practical way is a RNG and thus you wouldn't see much if they showed it to the public. I just hope they only use this RN

Weird numbers
Wow! You are right, those would have been picked by me only after 2 or 3 six-packs.
Just a few questions because I play only in Florida but I am interested!! Is the FOR LIFE part of the winnings limited to a time like 30 years? It is not really for as long as you live is it? Is the amount paid on a annual basis minus the 25% that is usually taken out for taxes?
Sooo if you won the $3,000.00 prize would the gross amount be about $36,000.00 per year?
Finally, do you like to play it

Maryland Lottery to offer limited-run raffle-style game
limited ticket being dispensed: 420,000. (MD)
Definitely is lower then the amount PA is issuing. PA to dispense 600,000 tickets.
Lower tickets =somewhat better odds to win! :)
Dispite the extra taxes in MD, I may just whistle my way down to Dixie and get a ticket or two! :)
Interestingly enough, MD allows the drawing to be held earlier then Dec 31st. It can be contingent on how fast the tickets sell out. They reserve the right to announce the winning numbers though on Dec 31st.

Lottery Raffles
Stavros:
Man! you are correct the odds are a lot better. I just was trying to see how everybody felt.
I too will bite the bullett and buy some tickets. What the heck its Christmas soon.
Unlike Bob P I am not running for political office so I don't care who thinks spending $20.00 for a raffle ticket is silly.

Anyone hate a certain lottery game?
Missouri's Showme5 game has 44 balls. If you happen to beat the odds and get all 5 numbers right out of the 44, the max you can get is $50,000. That's just wrong! That is taxes paid and the lower tiered prizes are good, but it should have a higher jackpot than that. The lower tiered prizes are lowered substantially if the jackpot is hit. For instance, 4 out of 5 on this games gets you $750. But if the jackpot is hit, the lower tiered prize becomes $250 for 4 of 5. I believe MO is the only Pick 5

Weird MM thoughts.....and it comes almost true
Well this is weird. For the first time in a long time I finally bought MM tickets last night. I took a glance at my numbers and threw the ticket on my desk hoping it would turn me into a millionaire. It was funny because last night I was thinking to myself there is probably going to be a consecutive number in the 20's for this drawing. I actually was going to post that also, but oh well. Well anyway last night I was like I can't wait to wake up in the morning and see that the jackpot was wo

Testing 30 combination straight picks only
Well ... let's see. If you played 30 numbers per game x 55 =1650
1650 x .25 = $412.50 cost per day...
412.50 ..divided by 37.50 ...would be 11 hits per day to break even.
The expected math hit average is about 9 per day... so it has to hussel to get up to 11 per .....just to break even.
Those House odds take all the fun out of it .... those guys have sharp pencils don't they? I think they have already thought this through before? LOL
