Lottery Savings Account
The question of lump sum vs spread out payments has been asked and polled a number of times. Not every state offers the option. As to whether your employer steals the pension fund or the federal government raids the social security trust fund we're never going to see that money again. So far lottery winnings have been safe as have bank accounts even if it has taken some time to get the money back from closed banks which keeps me hopeful percentage banked portions of lottery ticket sales

Special 3-digit code on all Scratch ticket lottery numbers?
Well, there's TWO barcodes on the Scratch ticket: The one on the back I assume is just the Serial number, which is made up of the Game/Book/Ticket numbers. Of course you cannot scan the back barcode, that does not tell you anything more than the front, and would defeat the purpose of the scratch-off covering. It's the hidden checkered barcode on the front that I was referring to. That revealed barcode can be scanned to tell if you won or not. I don't know what that barcode contains, but I

Special 3-digit code on all Scratch ticket lottery numbers?
Yeah, I see the clerks type in what I assume is the game and 3-digit code, but wondering why they do that? When you redeem the draw/jackpot lottery tickets, they just insert it into the machine to be scanned and the amount pops up. But for the scratch cards, why is it that they can't just scan with the revealed barcode, and also need to enter the 3-digit code portion manually? Is it some kind of extra security or hash or verification of a valid prize? I don't get it. I was logging down

What's with NY Sweet Million??
I won again!! I had three numbers on my picks and three numbers on the three free on my tickets purchased in da Bronx! Now I can add $6.00 to my total winnings in the last four SM drawings (my only losing day was last Monday since the promo started Feb 1) which brings me up to $89.00! GiveFive: I like your new strategy, now you are thinking like me (lol). BTW, the new NY Lottery web-site is up and running again, with the SM numbers coming out of those stupid hatched broken eggs, and you have

Disputed $50M lottery jackpot partially paid out
I doubt a dispute would occur within the friends I'm planning on doing this with While you know your friends and I dont, and you certainly could be correct with your assumption, you should never forget money (especially large amounts of it) will make even the most loving of family members turn against one and another. I witnessed that very thing happen in my own family. I saw every ugly bit of it, including the lawyers for each side. I live in the state of New York. The NY Lottery offer

North Carolina: 2/1 - 2/28/2011
Now Jordan, think about it...as I've said before we all know...there is a machine with balls in it with air blowing around then which ever one is near the hole blows out gets to be the first no. etc. so it's very possible that we're going to get numbers that fall like they have lately because this has happened before and it will happen again....remember all those 8's that time? There are 3 sets of balls put in the machine so that makes 3 of each number so it's very possible for the same numb

$190M Idaho lottery winner sorts out her new life
Coin Toss, even if those people were working (collecting a salary) and putting the money in the bank (and collecting interest), they should not be broke, coming back, and asking for more. Now, depending upon one's circumstances, if he/she lost a job, and depending upon debt analysis, there is a possibility they could live off of $1 million (I guess this is after taxes). If those people were retired and collecting a pension and social security (depending upon their ages), and having recei

$190M Idaho lottery winner sorts out her new life
Her Facebook page appears to have been scrubbed of most personal information, other than a couple of messages. If I were her I'd message my closest friends on Facebook and tell them I'm leaving for a bit, then get the people at Facebook to delete the page. After a few months I would sign back up (with a nickname) and only put limited info, lock it down to just friends and only add those close friends. That way all past history of her page is gone (ie: not in Google cache) and nobody but
