If it has I was unable to find a answer upon my search for this question. If you played one # combinaton like 103 every day every draw in every state for one month would you profit? What are the odds? What is the hit % for the same combination appearing in multiple states in one month?Example:013203121031130230123101Total10That was for Nov. 05 all states every day . No Tenn. day in there started in Dec I believe and no Nebraska or Oklahoma either. Th

Newspaper takes a hard look at the N.J. Lottery
This Star-Ledger Investigative Report is a rehashing of the same old stuff. Yes...poor people are more interested in winning money than the rich are. Yes it can be argued that the concept is regressive ...however it is erroneous to refer to the Lottery as a form of regressive taxation. As defined by Webster's Dictionary...A Tax is a levy imposed by the state... That's the catch, the Sate is not imposing the Lottery Games on the poor, middle class or the rich. It is voluntary. The people pa

Pick 3 Paradox? Question of probability
Good to see someone caught on - Indeed it is all about perception!A front loaded double does in fact have a 10% chance of creating a triple. In just the the same way a back loaded double and a split loaded double also have the same 10% chance, but when and only when they are looked at individually. The problem arises in my so called paradox because of how the numbers were perceived or observed. All the double types (front - back - split) do have the individual 10% chance of creating a triple

Texas Lottery to change Lotto game back to 6/54 format
Texas lottery commissioners moved one step closer Friday to returning the Lotto Texas game to its original format by signing off on a plan to bounce the so-called bonus ball from the format that decides how the multimillion-dollar jackpots are won.Meanwhile, the two sitting commissioners who oversee lottery operations deferred a decision on who will be hired to run the agency, which generates $1 billion a year for the state. But both offered high praise for former state Rep. Talmadge Heflin, a H

High Hopes!!
I just got home from work, and saw everyone's comments. Thanx to all who replied.I see jordi.... that 548 has me seeing two numbers. The 4 and the 8.It came out as 475 for the next night, for the winning number. So close to the 548, just by one number....Again thanx everyone....P.S. I was thinking about reducing the work even further by writing a program that just concentrated on the last two digits, instead of all three.Since I can easily cover the first position, we can eliminate 900 possibili

Florida Lottery Ruins Their Web Site
Hi. This is my first post on this site. To answer one member - the $45 million ticket was purchased in Miami-Dade county. The information on each game is available almost immediately after the drawing on the Fl Lottery website. Does anyone here think there is an inordinate number of winners from that area? I once addressed this issue and was told it is related to the amount of tickets purchased since the draws are random. I realize there are a lot of people living in Miami, but all jokes aside

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
The Megamillions has rolled over again, and the cash value has risen. Based on sales, the cash value reached $97.9 and is expected to rise to $113M, the annuity value from $165M to $192. This means that the lottery expects to sell about $47.4M tickets. From these values I estimate the probability of various numbers of winners as follows:076.36%120.60%22.78%30.25%40.02%Looking at my last post, we can see that I underestimated where the jackpot would be on this drawing by $7M annuity. However

What if you won the Powerball?
North Dakotans are among the thousands of people in 27 states who have been snatching up Powerball tickets. But what would they do if they won the record jackpot?Bryce McGillis, 28, a technical school student and worker at Phoenix International in Fargo, said he probably wouldn't handle all those millions very well. Probably not, to be honest, he said. I'm bad with money. Roger McNeil, 51, of Fargo, said he and his wife, Bernadette, would buy land and build a square-dancing ballroom. I'm sure
